Default Tomoyo After ~It's a Wonderful Life~

<a href="http://key.visualarts.gr.jp/newsoft/index.htm">Tomoyo After
~It's a Wonderful Life~</a>

<span title="Let us go searching for those treasured things in life">「人生の宝物を探しにいこう━━」</a>

</center>

Details
- Release date: 2005
- Designation: 18+
- No word on whether it'll have voice, though given that this is Key, probably not.

Production
- Contrary to speculation, Key hasn't picked up either Goto-P or CO2A.
- The art will be done by Fumio, best known for his work on Sorauta and the new Pia Carrot game.
- Scenario-wise, it'll be Maeda Jun (who wrote the original Tomoyo scenario) and Kashida Leo, a new name.
- As usual, music will be handled by Orito Shinji, Togoshi Magome and Maeda Jun.

Plot
Loosely speaking, the story revolves around Tomoya and Tomoyo's life in the summer vacation after the events in Clannad, together with her half-sister, brother, and his ex-girlfriend.

Thoughts
It's got Maeda's favourite 'family' theme written all over it, but I don't think we'll be seeing anything along the lines of the stories in Clannad. It seems this really will be little more than a fan disc.

Art looks pretty good; Sorauta was highly regarded, too. Shame it's not Itaru, but there you go. (Whatever happened to her, anyway?)

They're apparently marketing it as an ADV rather than a fandisk, so hopefully there'll be something reasonably meaty in there, even if not on the grand Clannadic scale. Unless there are really enough fans out there who'd fork over 5,800 yen just to look at official Tomoyo porn... O_o;;

Looks very nice.
I like Fumio's Tomoyo's look more than the original one. Good thing that she doesn't look like under-age gal.

So Tomoyo is the main character just like what the rumor/news said.

I hope Key's H-scene scripts has been improved...

Wait, she's the main character, but it's 18+? So are the H-scenes from her perspective? That'll be... new >_>;

am all for H, bring it on... although.... what month?! and yes, she does look more mature now (hopes that the other girls are involved in the H scens as wall.... excipt for Tomo).

hey, seems that key is realy going to go for 800x600 graphics in their new titles... am for one glad for that :). And seeing the system requirment... me think the game might including some animations (not actualy anime, but more like moving images... in a nice way).

... me hope for another game... this time for the twins :).

Central character, not protagonist. That's Tomoya again, like in Clannad (this follows on from Tomoyo's scenario, not the "true ending").

Relegated to drawing box art, it seems.

Well, if you've decided to purchase an 18+ game anyway, you could certainly do worse than one featuring Clannad's foremost エロイン =P

They've certainly got the technology. The question is just whether they'd actually be bothered...
Speaking of which, I see there's no mention of those RPG elements we were promised.

I'd prefer for them to begin working on their next major title, but going by the staff diary, it doesn't seem like Maeda really knows where Key is headed. Let's hope this isn't the beginning of the end for the industry's most prolific studio.

The ともともコンビ was bad enough, but you've really got to start questioning Maeda's naming sense when he adds another character called 'Tomo'...

At least he hasn't introduced トモ坂トモ夫 yet...

I'm interested in seeing how the game will play out. It would be nice to have moving images for once, but that just doesn't seem like Key's style.

I haven't gotten around to playing Clannad yet myself, so I'm not sure how it relates. :( having work to do is evil.

Wonder how long it will take before someone starts trying to patch this new game.

:)

lol. yea seriously.

This probably equals one of the main reasons I'm going to take Japanese while I'm in college. >.< all these great games I can't play!

YAR! YAR I SAY!

well, If i do learn enough, I'll probably try my hand at posting translation .txt files for patchers or those whom are interested.

*sits longing for next semester and JAPN 101*

Not to burst your bubble, but you might have to wait a while longer than Japanese 101 to start translating or reading games easily. I'm taking the language at the second-year level right now at my university, and there's still so many speech forms I haven't learned, complex vocabulary I haven't memorized, and those accursed kanji still haunt me in my sleep. In fact, it was only at the end of JPN202/beginning of JPN203 that I began to even think I could possibly carry on the most rudimentary conversation with a native speaker. Of course, your class could work a lot differently, and I don't mean at all to talk you out of the idea, but first year of Japanese might not be enough to give you the skills to successfully play through games, especially of this genre.

Doom-and-gloom aside, it really is a fun and rewarding language to study, and if you can stick with it despite the inevitable stumbling blocks of "I can only count to 10 in kanji and there are still thousands more to memorize" or "I hate these past negative conjugations! Does this rule apply to adjectives, or just verbs of the ru-column?"

The point of this long-winded post that no doubt makes me look more knowledgeable than I really am is this: Take Japanese in college, it is an excellent language to learn, but don't go in expecting to speak fluently or read games by your third or even sixth term, and don't get discouraged because of this.

And should you ever lose your way on campus, the Japanese department can often be found by following the sounds of wailing and the gnashing of teeth.

I'm aware. I'm not expecting to fully understand it for a while. But that doesn't mean I don't want to try!

and apparently my college's JP courses are supposed to be more advanced than normal bc they are purposefully trying to root people that want to learn just bc of anime out? O.o

or so my friend tells me... but he's taking chinese. and still, anything would be better than my first time playing a game like this:

Tokimeki Memorial SNES ROM... facial expressions alone were what i went on...

;;-_-;; I still don't know if i got the girl, or my "best friend" stole her away from me...
