Translating demos only is a very common practice in the fan translation scene, it's just we've not seen much of it lately (where art thou insani... ;))
Plus points are less work, and less legal iffiness.

I think the demo quite successfully shows how awesome a game ef is. I dunno if it'll generate sales, though, since you kinda have to know the language to be able to play it.

Indeed, the aesthetic presentation of ef can only be described as ridiculous. Nothing much story-related happened in the demo, but the overall scenario looks fairly interesting as well.

I'd have to agree that ef has the best graphics of any PC game (possibly game in general) that I have ever played.

I do hope that they translate the full thing, like One ~ Radiant Season ... it encourages sales with larger games, doesn't it?

Yes, but it's a lot of work, and the 'they' in question (NNL) is disbanding. After the final release, and possibly the Wind FD as well, I doubt they're going to be doing any further releases.

No, if ef is going to be translated in full, someone else is going to have to do it. I don't believe there are any active projects to do it either, unless some people here are interested in having a shot at it. (To Heart 2 XRATED translation guys, are you listening? This is a much more worthwhile project!) Considering minori's visual novel engine and formats have pretty much entirely been cracked apart, there wouldn't be much room for someone like me to work on it anyway.
