Default Trouble playing Onscripter visual novels

Hi there,

I've just discovered the wonders that are visual novels.
I've downloaded some of the novels released at your site.
But i have trouble playing the novels built using onscripter.
When i launch the novels by clicking their icons,
nothing shows up in the window although the music plays.
It's not even a blank black screen but my background wallpaper
showing up in the window. Tried waiting for several minutes incase
the novel was loading or something and clicking on it now and
then but still nothing changed.

I'm running on win xp sp2 so it should be compatible for running
onscripter novels. Could someone please help me on this?

This is a long shot, but are you running your Windows XP with Eastern Asian Language Support on?

Also, specifically which ONS games are giving you issues? Are there any ONS games that run fine? And do KiriKiri games work okay? (Fate/stay night trial, Summer Cicada and the Girl, Collage, ect..)

Sorry for the late reply, but I didn't have anything definite to offer either... Generally speaking, ONScripter is known to cause problems with older video drivers. I would suggest updating your drivers and trying again. If you cannot find drivers for your videocard, please give us the exact brand and model and I'll see if I can conjure something up.

@Misu & Message

Thanks for your replies :)
The problem I was facing applied to all the ONS titles I've downloaded,
which happened to be all the free doujin novels.
However I've partially solved my own problem, I think.
Somehow, after feeling frustrated of pointlessly clicking away at the window,
I started hammering the keyboard and presto!
The images appeared only when runned in full-screen mode.
Still, nothing showed up when I toggled it back to windowed mode.

So I guess that's better than nothing. :)

That definately sounds like a video card problem as Message suggested. If you care now, it's worth a shot to upgrade your video card drivers and see if that effects anything.
