I'm new to this forum, so I'll try to cover the situation as much as I can.
I'm trying to translate a visual novel called Kisaragi Gold★Star, from Saga Planets. Since I had no previous information about extracting and repackaging data from VNs to translate the scripts, I ran over most of the internet the past few days to search for software who can help me with that. Thing is, using the most popular programs I discovered (Crass, BGITools, animED and ExtractData), none seems to work fully with this game. Crass only captures images from the game, but neither their music, sfx or script, BGITools I don't even know how to use it, animED doesn't run on my windows 7 and ExtractData was, by far, the one I made most progress, allowing me to extract images, sfx, voice overs and movies, but it doesn't extract the scripts, nor let me repackage the files to their original state... >_> I even tried to do the same with another VN I have installed, H2O: Footprints in the Sand, and I could even extract and modify their scripts, but again, I couldn't re-compile everything back to the game's original files. So I'm pretty much stuck now. Can someone help me by giving me a hint about where to start looking for solutions or new programs to help me? I'm really clueless about where to go now... P.S: Sorry if my english isn't totally right or confusing..I'm actually portuguese xP |

Thx a lot for the reply....but I don't even know how to use RLdev T.T
Really, I'm clueless even how to start it. The .exe file doesn't do anything, and I saw some people saying it runs on MS-DOS but I still haven't figured it out, even after reading the entire manual... All I need is to know how to extract the scripts and recompile them again after modification. The remaining stuff I plan to take care just after I got to edit the scripts and get the game running with the translations. |

The .exe file does do something, only that it works in a different way. Most of the programs used for extracting/recompiling VN scripts are "command line tools" and they lack a graphical user interface. Meaning that they're controlled via some command line parameters rather than a dialog window, buttons and stuff.
On Windows environment, there are at least three ways to use them. I'll be using RLdev's kprl.exe as an example here: 1) Command Prompt: To open up the Command Prompt, you can either:
2) Shortcuts: You can create a shortcut to an executable file, open up its Properties dialog from the right-click menu and edit the Target value. If it says "C:\rldev\bin\kprl.exe" for example, you can add the command line parameters at the end of it: "C:\rldev\bin\kprl.exe" -d --outdir=output -r SEEN.TXT 3) Batch files: This is generally the preferred way to do it. There are times when one needs to run several operations instead of one, and the first two methods become rather painful on these occasions. All you need to do is to create a simple text file and change its extension from .txt to .bat. When you double-click on a batch file, it will be run as if it was an executable. For RLdev, you can create a kprl.bat right next to kprl.exe, and type in: Code:
kprl.exe -d --outdir=output -r SEEN.TXT pause P.S: Not sure if Kisaragi Gold★Star has a SEEN.TXT file, I just assumed that it does, since it's using RealLive engine. |

Well, I appreciate the help there, but not even using that method I could make anything worth of calling a sucess. Still waiting for a miracle to happen now.
Oh, and by the way, it's really Siglus Engine. It came after RealLive engine (and both were developed by Visual Arts, so expect seeing more on the future) |
