I don't get the point of twitter. What's the appeal? Why would you want to tell people the menial ongoings of your life?

Personally, I started one up to follow friends and a few other people I found interesting and to complain about random things... Well, mostly to complain about random things.

Unfortunately, some weirdo who was stalking the Little Busters project found out that I had started a twitter and sent the info to the head guy at Visual Art's, who then followed me. Which caused a bunch of random Japanese guys to follow me too, resulting in a fairly weird situation.

If you want to scream out to each other, I guess it'd better if you did it opening a different thread.
You can't say "go out" to someone who was only saying "this is not the right topic for this".
Isn't there any rule in these forums?

Also note that anyone who reads a translated project is beneath the contempt of said translator.

This thread really hasn't been taken seriously from the start by some.

There have also been some strong opinions expressed regarding the motivations of translators. I don't really see how that's off topic.

I don't think someone whining about what is being discussed on the FOURTH page of the thread is really productive or is going to change the direction of the discussion.

As for Moogy. They guy is certainly an asshole but at least he's not the "uptight pole stuck sideways up the ass" type that seems to all to common among these translation groups.

My post was more along the line of not being able to respect each other..hence the comments like "Bullshit translation"

Everyone should respect each others translation work instead of bitching about it. I'm also guessing those troll comments like "Internet tough guy" were the same people.

Crap..Gotta stay out of this. Bai!

Why are you never on IRC (at least when I am) fujifruit?
You're a cool guy.

I don't care how good your work is, if you're being a complete jerkface towards other people, you risk losing that hard-earned respect.

Proud of your work and congratulations, sure, but don't act like everyone else is inferior to you, because "visual novel" isn't everything.

We have self-important pompous "translators" who apparently think they are engaged in some kind of sophisticated intellectual endeavor. These same fanboys then rage when the Japanese companies actually exert their rights and prevent their work from being tampered with as if these fanboys had any right to access this material in the first place. We have the commercial translation companies peddling their mediocre products.

Truly pathetic.
This post is a win.

How then, will you solve this problem?

To make the same amount or more as a translator, We'd have to get lucky and translate (and get royalties) on a blockbuster hit like Harry Potter, or be in the top X% of the industry.

Let's be realistic, good translators and translations deserve good money, but the market doesn't support that, because a game will sell maybe, 250-500 copies, with 1k being amazing. Plus people are only willing to pay $50 for a game (that the publisher sees half of), and people will then complain about the price? The economics simply don't work.
And what are you trying to say? 'All the cool translators are the ones that have other high-income occupations as well? Strict translation is for losers?'

At least we "mere" professional translators work seriously at putting out our work on a timeline that gamers can realistically anticipate and enjoy. Without people like us, you guys wouldn't even have 90% of the anime/game content that allowed you guys to be able to find new experiences and proceed to do all this bitching that you're doing in the first place.

Agi's not saying anything like that.

Specifically, Agi isn't saying you're uncool. Agi's saying you're poor.
