regarding the "licensed publishers" it seem like they will no longer be required even for the PS3. But the approval process is only removed for the PS2 and only in Europe, they have said nothing about North America or Japan (and I can't find an official press release on this).

the developers are still expected to duplicated their own disks.

And now, Sony will allow developers to publish by going through a third-party publisher. "This has never been done before," notes Bain. "This is something we're actively promoting."

I am not a console developer and never bothered to check the development process. So everything I am saying/typing are my thoughts and might actually be wrong.

Japanese Otaku Seeks to Marry Mikuru
Within the past week, Japanese otaku Taichi Takashita has come to international recognition because of his genuine desire to marry Mikuru Asahina, the time-traveling school girl character from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Takashita’s online petition to encourage the enactment of a Japanese law allowing citizens to legally marry fictional characters has already earned over 2,200 signatures since October 22nd. Takashita hopes to collect one million signatures before presenting his case to the Japanese government.

“I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world,” Takashita states. “However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?”

Oh shit, now I've got two games named eden to look forward to. This is going to be fucking confusing.

I'll refer to one as 'eden sssd' (EDEN: Saishuu Sensou Shoujo Densetsu) and the other as 'eden*', like they have in the logo on the website.

That said, the official site for eden* went up...or sort of. According to first blogging of people that purchased the respective Comptiq issue which has the scoop on this one included, it's Mitsuishi Shona who's in charge of main art for eden* (she worked already were among the artists responsible for Wind that had Tatsuya Yuuki as main artist and Haru no Ashioto which got KIMuchi as main artist in charge though). Here's hoping minori can get Mikage back for the scenario...

Seems more and more that 2009 is going to have quite a lot of interesting titles coming up. Now if only Studio Ryokucha would announce a magic a ride Fandisc I'd be even more sure of that ^_~
