Makoto Shinkai and his Amazing Technicolor Animations

If you like Shinkai's feature films, I'd recommend 5cm. It's better than Voices of a Distant Star, although as far as I'm concerned, it's still superficial and clumsy (albeit gorgeous, but pretty pictures have no bearing on my opinion of a movie).

I'm really looking forward to 5cm, being quite in love with The Place Promised in our Early Days and all of his short works.
(has anyone else seen a cute little music video he did about a girl and her hamster, I think it was called Egao?)

Shinkai also made a short for Ani-Kuri15. It's OK, with a funny Evangelion parody.

I've seen 5 centimeters per second, The Place Promised in our Early Days, Voices of a Distant Star, She and her Cat, Other Worlds, all his short Minori works (Wind -a breath of heart-, Ef, etc...), and all his other shorts like Egao and Neko no Shuukai. I can say, without a doubt, that he a phenomenal person, who has done so so much... if you want proof, watch his animation in Ef - the latter tale. It made me cry when I first watched it, and I didn't even know what was going on.
