Default Lamune translation project

I am considering translating Lamune, the Nekonekosoft game of 2004, and have made some headway with it. I have completed the "childhood" portion of the game, and am in the process of translating the Suzuka path. So far I have the first day.

There is, however, a little catch. I am a complete incompetent when it comes to scripting of any sort, so I have not actually been able to rip the script. In fact, my translation so far had been done by means of having Lamune and Word open at the same time and scribbling down the translation on the go... not the most efficient way to translate, I think you'll agree, although it does give me a certain feel for the flow that might be absent if I were only staring at blocks of text.

So, to get to the point, does anybody know a good way to rip the text from Lamune?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question... but I want you to know that if you're translating Lamune, you have my moral support! Thanks for making the attempt, and I hope that you'll succeed :).

You might find Haeleth's Majiro utilities useful:

Better yet, talk to the guy himself =P

Oh, so Ramune does indeed use Majiro? I picked up the super-cheap LE from Palet earlier this summer, and was wondering what engine they were using; I remembered reading somewhere that NNS was NScripter for everything pre-Ramune, and I know Scarlett uses Majiro, but I thought the engine was much newer than 2004.

Nope, Lamune isn't Majiro... or if it is, it's a very early prototype that's sufficiently different that MJdev doesn't have a clue what to do with it. :)

Hey guys, I have a question of Lamune... I heard that there's a Lamune game for the PS2, is that true? If so, has it been released yet? Also, is the PS2 version the same as the PC one? If not, what are the differences? Thanks people.

The PS2 version was released by Interchannel about a year ago. The differences were pretty much the same as for any console release: adult scenes removed, and a couple of new characters thrown in as compensation.

Thanks for the quick reply, Haeleth. Maybe because it's summer time, I'm starting to get into Lamune again =P. Anyway, I also want to ask how the anime compares with the game?
Oh and another thing, in the anime, Kenji sometimes calls Nanami - "Nanami-sensei". Why is that? Is it something people say in Japan to show closeness?

No, that's what they call teachers and similar figures. He's probably being sarcastic in those instances (contrary to popular belief, sarcasm DOES exist in Japan).

In particular, it's somewhat of a running joke amongst NNS staff to address its 'ponkotsu' characters like Hiyori, Nanami, and Nozomi as 'sensei' (Setsumi-sensei seems to be an exception to the rule).

Thank you for your replies. I am reworking the first day for Suzuka, as I am not too happy about how she is turning out - no matter what I do she seem to end up sounding like somebody from Cheltenham...

To elaborate on Haeleth's reply, the new characters are Shin.Sakura and Misora, both of whom appeared in the anime, respectively.

The first generation is Izumi of White - she, along with Hiyori and Nanami are the three royal-class ponkotsu in Nekonekosoft lore. They even had a ponkotsu-meter up on their site.

The final chart is in the Shizuka Q&A in the petit fandisk-a-like, indicating Amelia's place in the grand scheme of things:

You know, looking more closely at the chart... the range isn't all that wide.. I mean, Sagiri and Chu-chu are the min for pokotsu powa?

Speaking of which, who's the pink girl between Nozomi and Chu-chu? DC-Hiyori?
