This door is being closed firmly by the power of strong darkness.
.... "with" the power, may be more close. |

This door is being (closed firmly/tightly closed/sealed) through the power of a strong darkness. Just attempting to clean up the English a bit and make it more... prettiful? Hehe.

I didn't know that usage of through. I see.

If you ask me with or by is far better than through in this case.
And am I stupid or does this contain errors ? I can only think of ryoraryoku as kyouryoku 強力. Am I missing something? And the to should probably belong to tojirareteiru. 此の扉は強力な 闇の力で 固く閉じられて居る Neo, next time you ask somebody for help it would be better to post it the way you found it (if you found it in kanji then leave post it like that, and if it was in hiragana or ro-maji then please don't add your own spacing). |

I'm pretty sure it won't have used 此の or 居る in the original... words like この and auxiliary verbs like this usage of いる are almost invariably written in kana. That said, I partly agree - "by" is just as natural as "through" in this case, IMO.
The point I'd disagree with in the translations suggested so far is the translation of 閉じられている with a present progressive "being closed/sealed". My reading of the Japanese is that the door is already closed or sealed, and the dark power is what's keeping it in that state. So either just "the door is sealed", or if you want to use a more active verb, "the door is being held shut", would be a better translation in this case. |

I never claimed to reproduce the original, such a claim would be completely unreasonable considering there is more than one solution.I merely wanted to put it into a form that shows what I saw it as. So selecting either この 此の or 斯の and choosing between いる 居る and ゐる seemed quite unimportant to me.
Maybe I should have written it like 斯戸片は強力な 昏(やみ)の威力(ちから)で 強固(かた)く閉じられてゐる to show how little I care. Anyways, of course I agree with Haeleth translation, but honestly speaking reading 'This door is being sealed through the power of a strong darkness.' conveyed the exactly same meaning to me. Would anybody really interpret that this sentence means that a seal is currently being applied to the door? But yes, of course, merely gramatically it might be what it sounds like. 矢張Haeleth樣に敵う道理はあるまい。 |

If it's really a Rockman game (I'm thinking Battle Network Rockman EXE, 4 or 5?), I'm willing to bet that the original would be more around the lines of "このトビラはきょうりょくな ヤミのチカラで かたくとじられている".
Eh, kids' games. |

May the guest confusion begin. Maybe I should register somewhen.
Well I strongly think that they would not leave it entirely without kanji. Even a game boy advance should have room for yomigana. And even if it doesn't, I doubt they would write 力 as チカラ even if it's for the 5 years old. |

Why, the delimitation is there. Than it's more likely to be "strong power of darkness".
>guest1 There are somewhat games that use only the Hiragana and the Katakana still now. besides 力 is very confusing to カ in Katakana, so they might be avoiding using. It's mere conjecture though. |

So, were it translated to mean that someone was in the process of shutting the door, it'd be more like: Someone/something is (trying to?) seal(ing) this door with a strong darkness. Which is opposed to a more passive reading, such as: This door is sealed through/with the power of a strong darkness. Note the change in perspective as well. (1st person vs. 3rd)
