Well this has probably been done before but I didn't see it ^-^
Favorite quotes from bishoujo games? Only one I ever played in depth was Kanon but I can remember two from there I clearly enjoyed. Amnesiacs are not known for their reliable memory. and They're called miracles because they don't happen. What are some of your favorite quotes? |

Back on topic, I've always been rather partial to... well, most of the things Shiori says, in fact. Particularly her assessment of Tabasco: 「人類の敵です」 I'm also fond of the lies various heroes tell girls who foolishly ask them for help in lessons. ONE's Kouhei's translation of "The party was concluded with three cheers" into the Japanese equivalent of "The party was wiped out by three cheerleaders" is a classic, as is Sense Off's hero's explanation of the relevance of Goliath to a maths lesson: [ゴリアテは]19世紀初頭にゴリとアテの兄弟が提案した、無矛盾な命題など存在し得ないという公理だ (Hard to translate. Roughly, "[Goriate is] the axiom proposed by the brothers Gourry and Athe at the start of the 19th century, which states that no proposition can exist that is not inconsistent." Except it's funnier in Japanese.) |

Nah, not all quotes are quotable. Most dictionaries of quotations seem to have entire poems in them where they're famous enough that kids used to have to memorise them or whatever.
BTW, where game quotes are concerned, I've always been quite fond of Kanonsense's sayings page -- not only is it a collection of all the most famous lines from Kanon, but it also contains suggestions for how to use them in everyday conversation. |

Sorry for the crappy translation, I would have just retyped out the Japanese text, but I'm not sure the pronunciation of several of the kanji. |

Almost all of those Sunohara vs Tomoyo scenes were quote-worthy.
And when faced with: 蹴り返す よける Who wouldn't choose the first option? for great combo
