Sure, and when the stakes are high enough I fully expect forgeries to come in. But security is about incremental costs to maintain vs incremental costs to defeat the security.

It costs me relatively little effort to email a project (given that I know their project page) to ask "So, XYZ has said that they have permission to translate your game, is this true? Please respond so XYZ can be placed on the site quickly."

Sure, if someone cared enough they could get around that process, and it'd take significant amounts of effort to do so. But for most things, that alone would get rid of most basic attempts at forgery.

Pretty much yes, p-p derives from my experiences in the past few years. Creators are amenable to translations being done, translators, if given the opportunity and support, are willing to do projects. All that's missing is matching the pool of projects with a pool of talented translators. And that's what I want to build.

Old news, really. It's been known for a while that retailers are uninterested in anime inspired art (which is partly why western publishing subsidiaries have been trying to convince their Japanese counterparts to westernize the art). The larger retailers have also been cutting back drastically on anime DVDs.

I find it absolutely hilarious how there is apparently not a single OELVN out there which does not proudly display an intriguing variety of spelling and grammatical errors in both the promotional material and the text of the game itself. I think the people writing them should learn more about their own language before making poor attempts to imitate works written in Japanese!

Also, I like how the school in this is named "Mayfield High," yet is apparently an institution located in Japan. Some of the "Japanese" names they gave the characters are pretty weird too - 愛媛 is the name of a prefecture, for example.

I'm not a nitpicker by nature but you DID ask. There's also a number of questionable uses of passive voice and dangling participles but my English isn't perfect enough to comment on those without being a filthy hypocrite.

I don't agree with Moogy's assertion, mind, but I haven't looked at that many OELVN pages so he could very well be right. I'd like to write one myself at some point - I've had a few goes but gave up partway through each time. It's very sad.

There's a lot of different passive voices on OEVN sites. And quite a few are what Moogy claim to be, so it feels like almost a shame to our language.

they seem to be using a proxy service to protect themselves from DDoS. And they are either still trying to configure it correctly (for the past 2 weeks) and they chose a bad provider.
