Default Kanon/AIR voice patch

Is there any plans by any group or programer to make a voice patch for the DVD versions of Kanon and AIR? I want to re-buy Kanon to get the all age version but I want to have voices so I need the old CD version and at the same time, I want the updated features the Eng patch will use with the DVD version.

At present there is no DVD voice patch. I am considering writing one. If I do, however, it will only support the PS2 version of Kanon, since that's the one I have and the only one from which it's easy to extract the voices.

Go for it, boss! I would like to see a voice patch for Air Standard Edition. As it is I cannot read it yet. It would be nice to hear it and not understand it too!

On a totally unrelated topic. Has anyone fansubbed the Kanon or Air drama CDs? I'd be interested in that as well.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has yet provided subtitles for the Kanon/Air radio dramas (or indeed, any other drama CDs). I suppose fansubbers are more interested in working on anime, given that the requisite effort would be about the same.

I'd read something awhile back on animesuki about how it would be done. Basically a movie file with subtitles timed to the audio. I don't remember if it was about a drama cd in particular or if it was merely hypothetical.

Or you could just post a translated script onto the net...

Default Evangelion Picsub

I remember seeing a "picsub" of the Evangelion -After The End- radio drama. It's still being linked to on AnimeSuki since there is virtually no chance of ADV ever licensing it.

As Carl said, your best bet would be to read through a translated script. The only problem with that option would be making sure that you do not read too fast or too slow. The alternatives are either painstaking (picsub creation) or dangerous (fandubbing).

Wouldn't a time script work?
Winamp and other software support timed lyrics for MP3/CDs, so I guess releasing the script in this format would work really nice for Radio Dramas..

I've been adapting the Air voice patch to work with the DVD version of Air [Standard Edition]. I noticed there are a couple of sections for which there is no voice. I found it entertaining the sections they left out. The naughty bits, so to speak.

Here's a section between Misuzu and Haruko, basically with Haruko asking if Misuzu (underage) is feeling drunk. I guess that's a no-no.

7/19
女 is Woman (Haruko)
みすず is Misuzu

from SEEN0193

Woman: Misuzu, are you drunk?
Misuzu: Eh?
Misuzu: Yeah, maybe...

I think that bit was from the Air arc, it also appears (also unvoiced) in the Dream arc.

Not sure about the surrounding context, since I haven't taken a crack at translating it, but here's a quote that appears to be unvoiced:

7/29

from SEEN0295

Here's one bit of dialogue between Kano, Hijiri and Yukito that was left out. As best as I can tell, the girls are discussing having relations with Yukito. Anyone want to take a crack at a translation?

7/30
佳乃 is Kano
聖 is Hijiri
m{A} is Yukito
m{B} is Kunisaki (Yukito's surname)

This is from SEEN0305

<0854> \{\m{A}} 「え…」
<0856> \{\m{A}} 「あ、ああ…」
<0869> \{\m{A}} 「うっ…」

There's a couple of more sections that were left unvoiced. I simply took note of them and didn't try to find out why yet. I don't want to bore anybody with their contents unless someone is interested.

But it's funny - the all ages version wasn't quite all ages enough for the voiced version. Oh well. What people might get offended about is often a source of amusement.

I've completed a software patch (written in perl currently) for voice patching the Air DVD for the Dream and Air arcs. Completing the Summer arc is awaiting my motivation.

Basically I have a perl script which digs through the text looking for spoken parts not taken by the main character (unvoiced). It matches up quite nicely with the original patch file.

The original patch relies on specific insertion points (in characters) which is why it doesn't work with an English patched script. My version is dependent on line numbers (of the text resource file) rather than insertion points. It looks in the decompiled script files for where each voiced line is contained and inserts a call to play the corresponding wav file just before the call to display the text. It works very well. But it's a time consuming project. It took several days to patch two of three arcs. Just a few files to go!

That's actually an "imagined" Hscene from Kano's arc. And yes, there's a naughty picture to go with it. ;o

Can I get some attention?

Well, just one question. Does the voice patch talked about in Stranger or other one discussion topic about Installation of Voice Patch of Kanon...does that guide work with Standard Edition?

I always get an ERROR when pressing Patch Scenario button.

Thanks.
