Default THE DEVIL STRIKES

G-Senjou no Maou
"The Devil On G-String"

The long wait is finally over.

Official Web Site (SFW)
Erogamescape page (mostly SFW, some NSFW)
Getchu.com page (NSFW)
Amazon.co.jp page (SFW)

G-Senjou no Maou - Regular Edition (9,240円)*
G-Senjou no Maou - First Press Edition (10,290円)*
*n.b. himeyashop links are NSFW

Poorly translated synopsis, courtesy of Himeyashop:
Quote:
In the midwinter, a devil suddenly appears in a city. His ambition is to destroy all humans. The main character is Kyosuke. He is a high school student and enjoys his school life with Tsubaki, Kanon, and Eiichi. But one day, rich students go missing one by one.... When they are at a loss what to do, a girl with beautiful long hair appears in front of them. Her name is Haru. She is the girl he met ten years ago.... A deadly pure-love drama now begins....
My synopsis. It's better than Himeyashop's:
Quote:
You play the role of Asai Kyosuke, the son of a legendary gangster infamous in the underworld. You spend your time listening to Bach, playing God at school and covertly working for your stepfather, a ruthless financial heavyweight. This idyllic existence is broken when two individuals appear in the city - a beautiful girl from your past named Usami Haru with hair you could get lost in for days, and a powerful international gangster known only as Maou. Almost without delay, the two begin a deadly cat-and-mouse game, bringing you and your friends into the crossfire. Plotting, political intrigue and layer upon layer of interlocking traps are the weapons in this epic battle of wits.
tl;dr
Quote:
Think of Maou and Usami as Kira and L, only they're both far more awesome than their respective counterpart. The other heroines aren't mere shallow pretty faces, either: even the character that seemed most likely to be guilty of that (Miwa Tsubaki) has already shown that there is a great deal of depth to her character in the second demo. In addition, the protagonist is as developed a character as anyone else, being written by a scenario writer known for strong, badass protagonists (Syarin no Kuni, A Profile etc.).
I shall say more when I actually get a chance to play this thing.

Okay, I've been meaning to ask all this time. After all these threads and posts about G-sen before it even came out, who is actually interested in the game here?

We didn't even get this much fanfare for this Friday's ef, or Tsuyokiss2, or amusing news like Yuzu-soft's neta-laden Natsusora Kanata countdown/up flashes, that started at 40 days, or how Hi-quality software's Sakura Sakura suddenly had to drop seiyuu veteran Hokuto Minami a month before scheduled release. >_>

I will try to explain the situation one by one then. First, EF, when it first came out - yes, everyone is expecting another SUIKA, in minori style, even Mikage-san himself said it. And everyone loves shinkai no doubt about that. But after the first tale, it's getting a lot of negative comments, therefore its popularity droped - does that make sense?

Secondly, Tsuyokiss2, this one is easy -> I don't think it's made by the same team who did Tsuyokiss any more. (it's essentially an "DC2")

Thirdly, I have to say I don't know much about Yuzu-soft, people were telling me that ExE was a landmine - no? And the only thing I knew about this company is that one of the artist is involved in SNOW and one of the scenaioist is involved (but not that guy who's in charge of) Itsuka, Todoku, Ano Sora ni. Does that get your hopes up? Not me. :(

-------------------------------------------

About G-sen - firstly I think it's just because Asceai-san is an obsessive (and only) poster here XD. If no one is responding after a while, he will just shovel them into the back street just like what you guys did in neko nyan.

And the logic behind Asceai-san's obsessiveness is quite simple - take you for example, agilis-san, suppose you are in 2003 and you have played giniro. Now Red -aka- is about to release and it's claimed to be giniro's sequel - what would you do? Or a better example, in 2020, After about two dozens of delays, Age is finally releasing MUVLUV - REVERSED, which is claimed to be ten times longer than Muvluv Alternative, and a hundred times more fascinating - what would you do?

Akabeesoft2 has that kind of potential to grab the heart of many die hard fans - just like key, nekoneko, typemoon, nitroplus etc. Asceai-san happens to be one of them. If you want to check if you are an AB2 fan or not - trying out sharin no kuni will be your safest bet.

To be honest, probably only like 3-4 people.

However, I'm interested in this game enough for the whole community! Oh, and I'm looking forward to ef tomorrow as well, but nowhere near as much. This game has kept jumping out of reach, from releasedate to releasedate, for over half a year. It's from one of my favourite scenario writers of all time, is released by the company that got me into visual novels in the first place, and nothing I've seen about this title has hinted to me that it could possibly disappoint me. So that's why I'm excited.

I know I am, but mostly because I believe the scenario writer who wrote Sharin won't let me down. The setting and characters of G-Devil are all very interesting, but I've only played the first demo which just did the basic setup for the storyline and didn't really hook me in. I think as long as it's not a flop I'll probably end up playing it as soon as I have the time.

The second demo is where stuff actually starts to happen.

なのはからきますたってあれ?www

So, Asceai... can you use a sentence of at most 14 words to tell us why this game is great? I don't have time to play all these game demos -_-;

If the fact that it's written by the same fellow as Syarin no Kuni won't convince you, I don't think any combination of 14 or fewer words could manage the feat.

I'll try later, once I've gotten and finished the game. =p

See, while I think other people would enjoy this title, I'm not going to put that much effort into selling it to people. If people get the wrong impression, play it, and are disappointed by it, I'd rather they didn't play it at all.

Just getting other AKABEiSOFT2 fans interested in it is really enough for now.

UPDATE: AB2 finished the countdown.

It's funny because I became an AB2 fan from what is very commonly believed to be their worst title - Tamayura. The original Tamayura (I later played Tamayura: Enkan no Kizuna, of course). It's the VN that got me into VNs, terrible as it is compared to a lot of actual good VNs.

I later played Syarin, and I was utterly hooked. It was not only so much better than Tamayura, but so much better than any other VN I had played up until then. Since Syarin no Kuni, I've played a lot more things, and gained some actual perspective. I still hold AB2 favourably, though.

Yes. Gin'iro's in my top 10 list. It's an absolute classic, and it's wonderful. I have not played Aka.

I just can't bring myself to get excited about a game with 'G-string' in the title ._.
At least not with a huge backlog calling to me.

Some of the CGs look nice I guess, but they have that impossible vacuum sealed boobies problem a lot of H games have :(

After a few moments thought..

10. Tsukihime
9. Gin'iro
8. AIR
7. Ever17
6. Kazoku Keikaku
5. SWAN SONG
4. Himawari (Blank-note, not Studio Regrips)
3. December when there is no angel
2. Syarin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo
1. THE DEVIL ON G STRING no
1. Clannad

Sorry it's not a particularly interesting list. I would love it if there was some hyper-obscure awesome title to shove in #1, but I haven't played that one yet. Unfortunately, my list is filled with well-known games because that's how I find out about them and play them.

It sounds a lot more interesting than I thought it would with that title :P

Asceai, I think I remember you once talked about translating the trial for this game? Or am I completely wrong? I wouldn't mind that happening....
