Default Canvas2 DVD ver. install problems

I got the Canvas2 DVD today, and I can't seem to even get as far as installing it -_-

When you click install you get "C2DINST.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close." blah blah. Closer look in debugger indicates nullpo, so no leads there...

English WinXP, Japanese support installed, default ANSI locale set to Japanese, etc. I have no problems running many other games.

There is a patch on F&C's site, but it's for the actual game not a new installer or anything.

The disc seems to have some copy protection called AlphaRom on it, which i am suspecting is the problem here, as it always bloody is -_-

Anyone had this problem and can offer suggestions?

Managed to get it to work.

Not that this is likely to affect anyone else, but if you have IBM DLA installed, uninstall it. It seems it was interfering in some way.

It comes pre-installed on ThinkPads, and doesn't make it's presence obvious, so if you have a ThinkPad check Add/Remove Programs and it's probably there.
