Otakon '09 - Who's Going!

It's time for me to start poking around and see who all's going to be at yet another con I'm going to. This time it's Otakon! XD

So... who's goin' ;)

I find it easier to put up a topic to find out who's all going cause I like to meet people from the forums ^^

It's sad that there aren't any panels this year VN-related =/ But having a VN-related guest makes up for that w/ MELL making her US debut! Rest assured I WILL be @ that concert & autograph session XD

Also to note: Mangagamer will be having a booth in the Dealer's Room according to their site. (and they're looking for help, I'm checking in to see if I can work) JAST USA should be present as well according to their fourms.

I was looking up jastusa. It says they are in, but in the dealer's list, they are not listed. Can you see if you can get confirmation fromthem, or what booth number they will be?

All I know is what I read from their BBS when I was snooping. =/

Cosplays for me: Hei/BK201 from Darker than Black... mask currently ready to be painted.

My girlfriend is going as Yin from DtB as well. Maybe I'll talk to her about doing our Tohno family cosplays again (I have a Shiki outfit and she made an Akiha outfit last Otakon)

And maybe I'll get a silver wig when I pick up my one for Hei (and my knife for Shiki) and go as Yukito again w/ my Gao Gao shirt ^^

Or maybe this would be a good time to also try to do Solid Snake Hayate from ep 4 of Hayate the Combat Buttler! XD

Okay, It's less than a week for Otakon! And as of right now, I am going, but that could change Monday since I start my first job. =( I'm hoping my supervisor gave me Thursday & Friday off because I told her the dates for the con during my interview and I saw her write them down. (Plus I'm technically starting the Monday after we get back ;))

So, I've been perusing the schedule and I'm going to go ahead and say let's plan a short get together (maybe get something to eat?) for us who are gonna be there.

Right now, I could do something at the following times:

Anytime before 9:00 AM everyday
Friday: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Saturday: 3:00 PM -5:00 PM, 6:00 PM on
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

PM me with times we want to try this (just put "Otakon times!" in the subject) and I'll sift through them and find a good time and a place to meet. ^^

If we can't plan anything, I'll be working at the Mangagamer booth Friday and Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 and 1:00 - TBD respectively if ya just wanna say hi.

Things have changed for me. I will not be in Baltimore until late Friday evening. I just started my first job *yay! ^^* and they want me until Friday to finish my orientation.

So, I will not be working @ the Mangagamer booth. My girlfriend will though ;)

Look for me on Saturday as Hei (girlfriend as Yin, friend as November 11) from Darker than Black and Sunday as Shiki Tohno (girlfriend as Akiha). Don't be shy to come up as say "Hiya JRai! I'm so and so from the forums!"

I was able to Score a before the release date Kannagi DVD, and got it signed by yutaka Yamamoto, a hellsing bag signed by Crispin Freeman, and got a clannad dvd sleeve signed by Kikuko Inoue.

Met Peter Payne as well! :D only thing I am sad about, is what I am seeing on Sankaku...
It seems Family project has been "censored."

I'll play it now to make sure I guess

If only I could've made it to Otakon... I really wanted one of those signed DVDs, even if it meant paying $40 for it >< My friend there was creeped out by Inoue Kikuko sounding just like her characters when talking normally XD

Ohayoo minna-san!

I've just finally got to a computer since I got back from Otakon. (Yesterday I was in orientation for the ENTIRE day -_-)

I had an enjoyable trip with my girlfriend. ^^ I didn't get to meet Crispin Freeman >.< I did go to the Dealer's Room and pulled off quite a good haul. Went to a Darker than Black panel which should have been subtitled "Hei fangirl squeal edition" -_- (This has driven my girlfriend and I to do our own DtB panel at the next con.) And I got to take my girlfriend out to a rally good sushi place on the harbor ^^.

Meeting Yutaka Yamamoto was an interesting experience. He's a really enjoyable guy. The questions people asked him were good (except for the jerk off who started bitching about Endless Eight in the NEW season where Yamamoto-san is not a PART OF >.<) I liked how he spoke of Inoue-san XD It is true! She is JUST like the characters she normally voices! (I met her a few years back at Animazement)

Dealer's Room haul:

3.) First vol of Re-Take doujin for Inexperienced_Gaijin

5.) Family Project (need to install and start playing... possibly this weekend. When I heard the commercials for the drama cd's and read the descriptions, I knew I had to try this game ^^ esp. Aoba voiced by Akiha Tohno's seiyuu from Melty Blood XD)

And did you get the dvd signed on Saturday?

I've been playing family project, and it is pretty... different. I like it!

I missed the Inoue panels... >.> They packed the famous people REALLY close together, so it was impossible to get an autograph AND QA them...

T-T I was able, as stated, to get her to sign my clannad cover, and it was the first time I heard her talk in rl. It was kinda cool!]


But my biggest prizes were a C.C. figurine (Banpesto, it wasn't the expensive, yet beautiful one, but good enough :3) and a Nayuki figurine from the 2006 season... Beautiful! >0<
