If you can speak Japanese, 2ch is the place to go.
Insofar as english boards go, you might want to try the Megatokyo forums.

I'd also include the more minor forums of the Peach Princess BBS, but mainly because I'm there (also, the translator for Tsukihime can be found there)

You could also try GameFAQs, but ahrdly anone goes there.

If only I could get a bigger meeting place, like livejournal or something...

The only person who worked on Tsukihime that I can find on the PP BBS is Nandemonai, and he did first-pass proofing, not translation. The Revolve and mirror moon forums would be the place to go if you want to talk with the staff members or their projects.

I would recommend you VisualNovels.net (http://www.visual-novels.net/vn/)

[edit Misuzu]I've got no problem with VN.net and their forum, but I would prefer if you refrain from doing a blatant advertisement for their forum advertisement contest (nor blatant advertising of anything for that matter) their running on their site.[/ edit]

To answer the actual question you're posing, this is indeed the largest forum in English.

Activity is also based around what is happening. During a major release (like Narcissu) or a major event announcement (like say, Key says "Little Busters" will be available in during Comiket 71) activity jumps way up, but right now we are in a fairly lull phase where not much is happening. Your always free to create a new thread to pick up discussion though =D.
