Default Nekonekosoft (General News & Discussion)

Nekonekosoft has decided to republish Mizuiro and Giniro.
The only new feature will be proper windows XP compatibility, but at least the option of buying them is now open again - something which you might consider doing in anticipation of the completion of their respective translation projects (whenever that might be).

As with most Nekoneko titles, both feature Kataoka Tomo-sensei of Narcissu fame. In fact, eagle-eyed fans might spot a familiar-sounding phrase on the promotional material excerpted below.

It is a problem of having not can be read, is'nt it? (笑)

I'm not really that familiar with the NNS titles, but I think the cover pic you posted seemed a little different from the original art. Maybe it's just me and my screwed up sleep schedule -.-

That's right, wasn't Gin'iro supposed to have a built-in, though dubious, English translation? I think I'll definitely have to look this one up - any ideas what the release date and price will be?

Also, was it just Mizuiro that got a Dreamcast port?

It'll be 3,600 yen according to the official site, and if the mail order window is anything to go by, it's already available. The translation it comes with reads like something Kinoko Nasu might have concocted after a few too many drinks, but the writing itself is reputed to be fairly good (at least in the original Japanese).

As for Mizuiro, that appears to be about the size of it. I don't think think any of the other games before it did well enough to warrant a consumer port, and all of the ones that came after went to PS2.

That was a recent picture knocked up to promote the new release. You must be thinking of this one:

"Weakness person must be die!"

Sorry! At first i didn't noticed...! after a google ride to the page of ATP projects (and the encyclopedia) i found that phrase...

Was that a "powered by online babelfish" translation?

That reminds me that in my country (Perú) a group that called themselves "X_SUB" translated Kanon (anime series) using babelfish online (from the english version of Ishin Fansub) and ended with the most comical spanish version of Kanon. A must see for every spanish-speaking otaku.

I've heard of the dubiously funny quality of some of the writing, but just the fact that they tried speaks volumes. And how can one really say no to 3600yen?? I wonder if Himeya would add it to their stock...

Engrish of Giniro is funny but it's also nowhere near as bad as what you would get from web translators like babelfish, imho at least. You could understand what's going on in the game most of the time. Also game is voiced so that helps too.

Bit late and bit offtopic but while we're on republishing; Minori is republishing Bittersweet Fools later next month (12/28 !), fans of Gunsliger Girl might be interested in the game *wink*.
Not sure if there's any new content added, prolly not.
