Default [Release] Turning Gears: La Divina Commedia -Trial Version-

I LIVE.

Project page: http://www.mangasos.com/dejavu/vn/pr...earstrial.html

By ZigZag (my VN idol >: | yes, every game they create gets added to my worklist). It's... pretty macabre. If you're really squeamish, don't read this, though I know there's much, MUCH worse out there. >>;; if you can stand most stuff, though, then this is tame.

This was actually pretty much finished back in April (at the same time Agnus Dei was done), but we had some delays getting a custom ONScripter build ready. BUT IT'S DONE NOW.

And this is stated on the project page itself, but no, the game isn't listed on ZigZag's website. They had a special page up for April Fool's Day (which they do every year) and this game's download (as well as that version of the site) was only accessible on that day. I caught it (me? stalk their site? no, not at all) the day it was up, so here you go.

yay another Zigzag title, I enjoyed all their others titles, so this will be a good read.

also hate to totally derail the topic somewhat but I was wondering if Kimi wo Kazaru Shiro is still being worked on...not saying to hurry up or anything like, I am just kind of curious.

On and off... I do plan on finishing pretty much everything I start, but some take longer than others. :x

Well Zigzag's pretty much hit or miss with me, but appreciate the effort in bringing us this, because it seems with the explosion of commercial project translations there's been a proportional cutback in doujin translations (the latter being the only ones I can afford to consume -- both time and money-wise).

Not a fan of Zigzag here, although Ballad of an Evening Butterfly was half-decent. They enjoy combining the bad aspects of Type-Moon's works (schlocky and pretentious description, heavy-handed character writing) with cheesy twists/conclusions, but more translations are always good.

I too have mixed feelings over this work. It's... interesting. Nothing too special though.

Code:
setlayer 10,100,"oldmovie.dll/0"

bg"e\start2.jpg",1
lsph 10,":l/16,0,3;dust.bmp",0,0
lsp 120,"*10"
layermessage 10,"s|2,12,10,200,160,10"
Except of course that this code is winnage distilled into its purest form.

By the way, Starchanchan, how is Impure Insect faring? Still nothing new from ZigZag?

I dunno, I rather liked it XD very strange, and you don't really understand what's going on, but that'll be answered in the full version, I guess (or at least as much as you CAN understand from a ZigZag game).

And Impure Insect is... coming slowly. I'll freely admit that for the past few months, I've been hardcore into another fandom that (gasp!) has nothing to do with anime/manga/vns/Japan in general... so pretty much all my projects (including more than just the VNs) came to a screeching halt in terms of progress. ^^;; I'm glad to say now, though, that I'm getting back into the swing of things, so hopefully I'll start cranking releases out again (especially since ZigZag just put out Chapter 1-2 of Impure Insect, oooo... that means I'm behind though, oh no!).

I didn't mean I didn't like it, because I did, but it's not something I'd recommend to others. Simply because 1) as you say, it's a totally haywire nutjob in its current form and 2) this being an april fools' release, I have severe doubts a full version will ever come into existence. Take into consideration the fact that they used badly encoded mp3s, grabbed rather unfitting and totally unloopable stock sound effects and only created five and a half CGs and you may agree that it's unlikely this was ever meant as a real game.

But I concur that it's typical ZigZag, which makes it enjoyable in some crazy ways, only more confusing... If at all possible. By the way, you forgot to include gears.ico. :)

I'm looking forward to more Impure Insect goodnesses / crazyhood. I won't have time to do a full transproof again (interesting though the experience was), but I could probably do an editing pass if you want?

Actually, through skimming their blog, it does appear they definitely plan on making it into a game ^^ a while back they posted approximate release times for some of their games, and they recently posted a new illustration for the game. Some of the stuff they tossed up on the April Fool's page WAS just gag, but from all I've seen, this is a game they plan on actually completing. I guess they only released the trial on that day for the people devoted enough to grab it for the little time it was there. XD

I've actually got someone to transproof my scripts now, hooray <3 but I appreciate the offer!

Thank you once again for the Zigzag release! The game is a bit difficult to follow, but it's interesting in a morbid kind of way.

Anyway, I've noticed that one of your future projects will be the trial version of Sombre Dimanche. I think the title is inspired by the infamous suicide song Gloomy Sunday, since it's mentioned in the game itself.

...lol, I believe you're right >>;; I guess it would've helped if I'd known the song. /fails at music knowledge

In any case, it was kinda meant to be a working title XD I'll alter it soon.

On that note, do you plan on working on The Nursery Alice and the Night Butterfly sequel once they come out?

...Honestly, it sucks being a ZigZag fan with no knowledge of Japanese, considering all those supplemental materials on their blog and site. I'm still somewhat hoping that one day, I'll be able to read 7 Days and 7 Nights of Rain (the yandere novel preview thing), even if it might completely destroy my image of Kyrie ;-;

I do! *o* I'm especially looking forward to the sequel~~ and lol, someday I want to translate 7Days too, for fun (I started a while ago, but stalled, and it's been updated since then and such...). Ahh, so many projects, so little time ._.
