CLANNAD PS2

has somebody here already played clannad ps 2 version?

it got a pretty high review score on www.gamefront.de (german gaming site)

i also googled a bit, and found a japanese site of ...sort of bishounen game magazine...with a demo dvd..fate /hollow antaraxia...

wow..would be really interesting to get that here in europe.

If you're referring to Famitsu's review, the score is actually pretty low. However, this genre doesn't normally score well in mainstream game magazines (iirc, To Heart 2 received solid scores. However, most releases don't).

It was only released today... the only way anyone's going to have played it is if they're actually in Japan and literally rushed to the shops to buy it on the very first day.

Come to that, quoting from gamefront.de, the site you linked: "Neuerscheinungen, Donnerstag 23.02.06: (Japan) Clannad PS2."

So unless I've gone through some kind of time warp and it's actually early March now, then it was only released today. :)

It's not uncommon for a game to be reviewed in the press before it's been released to the public.

Got my copy.

Havbing read the manga beforehand, and having developed impressions of the characters already, the voices seem really strange (not intended in a bad way). Tomoyo's voice is so low... And Mai Takahashi as Nagisa is an interesting combo.

Oh, and unlike Kanon and AIR, it's impossible to completely get rid of the text box and just have the text on the screen like subtitles. It's starting to hurt my eyes.

Seems to be doing well - straight to no. 10 in the all format chart, with 29k copies sold according to Media Create.

Any word yet on a possible voice patch? i'd love to have voices, but there's no way I could play the game without having it's script right there next to it -_-

It would probably be quite easy to extract the script from the PS2 version. It was certainly trivial for Kanon and AIR...

Hmm, I doubt there's a way to get the PS2 version to play on a laptop, though =/

More then just not wanting to use my laptop for the script while I play it on my PS2, I don't have a TV/ps2 hooked up very often (in my tiny doom room) so I was hoping there'd be a way to get the voices working on my computer - do you think that it's possible without having to buy both versions then waiting for a voice patch if one comes out?

Rather depends on the laptop and the current state of PS2 emulation. Which wasn't very advanced last time I checked.

Well, it's always going to be tricky without having both versions. ^_^

Assuming Interchannel haven't done anything nasty to the voice files, there are unlikely to be any particular technical hurdles preventing a voice patch being written, so it's reasonably likely to happen sooner or later. I could write one myself if I had access to the PS2 version, though there are plenty of things rather higher up my "to buy" list right now. (Oblivion, Scarlett, MacBook Pro...)

Once I've at least finished with Fuko and Tomoyo that is.
