Well we are not sure whether this thing is a master piece yet :p. The thing I love about sharin no kuni is the concept of "strength of heart". I really needed that. But what this scenarioist is REALLY good at, is his total control over the plot of the story. If the devil on G string turns out to be a game with "just" great story without the "strength of heart" element I loved so much, I might reconsider before buying it.

I'm pretty sure Devil on G String won't disappoint. I mean, it's pretty much continued to surprise me up until now. The first demo showed a title that was far more interesting than I initially expected from the story/synopsis given. The second demo then went and gave Tsubaki's character far more depth than I thought she could possibly possess, and I'm hoping it'll just continue to intrigue. This scenario writer may be famed for intricate, epic and intriguing storylines, but I think he's also one of the best 'emotional development' writers I've seen (along with Maeda Jun). So I'm sure Devil on G String will have plenty of that too.

Well, I'll find out soon enough! The release is but hours away (although I probably won't see it until next week :<<<)

Damn, a patch already? Well I suppose that's still better than the reason for Seinarukana's patches:
Version 1.02-fixes bug resulting in an illegal shutdown error when trying to save.
Version 1.03-fixes bug resulting in an illegal shutdown error when the All-Rounder swaps skills.
Amongst many others. It was a very buggy game at first. But then again, It's also a combo Visual Novel/SRPG.

Let's not forget about NNS' Scarlett, where a patch was posted on the website a few days before the game even hit stores!

This is quite normal; when you are making a game you have to send a final version to be printed long before the release date. Even by then, you already have a list of known bugs. Most of the bugs are discovered by beta testers and gets fixed prior to the final version; but to meet the deadline for the release, some non-crucial bugs are left to be be resolved later. Also after the games release, feedback from the players provide some need for additional fixes resulting from the diversity of the PC hardware users run the software upon.

Most companies try to keep up the appearances and release bug fixes bundled together in a small number of patches after a while then games release. That makes the game look like it reached its perfect state in only a patch or two, leading many to believe that is a well written software. But doing so may take a lot of time and leave some bugs un-attended for months.

Some companies on the other hand; release small fixes regularly, fixing a couple of bugs each time, resulting in a software that works better by each week. But thats shunned upon by many saying that game is so buggy that it gets patches so often.

Two different approaches, your pick, which one do you think is better?

I'm well aware of how bugs can turn up in software after the master has been sent for printing; my comment was more that it was amusing for the patch to be available to the consumers before the product itself.

The comment was also meant to be tongue-in-cheek in relation to the previous post, not an expression of my ignorance of the nature of bugfixes.
