But... 3d models? I am sceptical about how well that is going to fit with the 2d event cg's and everything :S

The 3D models look quite terrible: http://www.famitsu.com/news/201102/i...Hf1du7A8Q.html

I sure hope Robotics;Notes doesn't end up looking like this.

Robotics;Notes is using 3-D as well, so yes it is going to look like that.

The question is, how does that even look? In Motion? You can't really say much from a small screen like that, it looks exactly like how she looked in the original. Dead eyes and all.

Why would a game done by an entirely different staff look the same as that?

Well, they're both 5pb and coming out fairly close together, so it's not unthinkable that they would use the same guy(s) who made these crappy models for R;N as well.

Which would of course be bad. I'm already probably going to finally have to suck it up and buy a JP 360 for that game, at least make it look good. :(

One could use logic to figure out that rendering 3-D models requires a nice graphics engine and it's not financially sound to make new engines for every game.

The only difference will be the art style, and perhaps Robotics;Notes' character design will lend themselves better in 3-D.

So according to your logic every game made in the same graphics engine would look similar. 5pb probably didn't even code the engine.

Ever17 360 is also being done by the 5pb/Cyberfront staff, probably the same guys that have been doing those recent Memories Off games/ports, R;N is the usual 5pb/Nitroplus staff. And while Ever17 is a port where they obviously don't care that much (cropped cgs and stuff), R;G is the next game in the Science series, definitely their main focus right now, I doubt they will do such a poor job with the 3D models or that this port is any indicative of how R;N will look.

Well honestly it's not like R;N can look much worse than huke's art anyway lol

Uhh, then who did? 5pb makes their own engines in house. The current 360 engine was made by them.

That is also false. We honestly don't know who's doing the new remake at this point, but with the amount of content it's proposing, there's no way a simple port staff is all that's on it.

No Nitroplus this time, sir. Which also probably says goodbye to your R;N PC port. As for Ever 17, cropped CGs of the original maybe, to avoid wasting time redrawing but they obviously care enough to make new CGs, so it's pretty likely they're putting a lot of effort into the remake.

If they didn't care, they would have just done a straight port of the PSP version and called it a day.

The final part of the Mangagamer interview on Siliconera ( http://www.siliconera.com/2011/02/18...for-mangagamer ) doesn't have any dramatic revelations. But it does talk about the possibility of localizations of iOS ports, the possibility of more games with physical releases, good/bad about doujin games, difficulty getting on PSN and Steam, and selling translated comics online.

This is hardly related to visual novels, but some people here were interested before and nobody else on the Web seems to care, so:

http://shii.org/awatake/ <-- I've released chapter 4 of Intake Tower, it owns, please download it.

If you already have the Japanese version I will send you the English one.

edit: On an unrelated note, why does MangaGamer block purchases from Japan...?

So some of us have taken steps to try to push for the Ever17 remake's localization over at Aksys.

http://www.aksysgames.com/forums/topic/1101

If anyone is interested in seeing this game the game localized, please help support us!
