AFAIK, the US didn't ask for this step to be taken, JPO did this on their own. That is why no other country (AFAIK) have taken those steps. Although, the JPO might have done this to cut on the cost of checking large packages going toward the US, this where the money made from sending the package doesn't justify the cost of processing it.

note, in 9/11, all the flights were domestic flights, there is no reason to believe that local packages are safe so why block international ones!

If the problem is the exchange rate, they should just change their prices to yen.

they might still need to invoice in USD, as many banks do not support the conversion to all currencies. Also invoicing in USD makes it easier for them and their customer, since their won't be any confusion about the finally price (MG is still getting a lot of complains about Euro, aren't they? imagine the complains about JPY!).

any way, the USD price becomes a problem when they have a large difference in the exchange over a short period of time, after all, they are already using a higher exchange rate internally to offset any small changes. The result of the exchange rate problem might be that they are going to use a higher exchange rate internally, so expect to import eroge for USD 130 instead of USD 105.

UPDATE: another solution of the exchange rate problem would be, that they would stop receiving pre-orders until 4 weeks before the release of the title. Minimizing the exchange rate risk in the process.

Pretty awesome news for me because I enjoyed Angel Beats despite its flaws.

Thats fantastic. Angel beats really could have been one of the best anime's of the last 5 years if it was fleshed out more, and the visual novel is certainly the medium for fleshing out characters and providing time for decent build up.

Tokyo's Revised Youth Ordinance Amendment Bill Posted
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...nt-bill-posted

Quote:
The revised bill no longer uses the controversially vague term "nonexistent youth" [ ..... ] Instead, the proposed restrictions applies to all characters, regardless of their perceived age.
the proposed ban include twincest and incest, as well as old-sister!

any way, surprisingly, they want to law to apply to manga and anime only. It would be alright for a live film to have those things!

I want to give one reason
well it no wonder since they don't want to be blame by other countries(for indecent content and can be exploit for a bad exmple)....
since anime, manga is quite popular in the net.....=D and they didn't mind visual novel since its not too viral to the world... if you look at it anime and manga is the most viral items on the net....

I was actually looking forward to 2nd season of Kissxsis and an anime series of Aki Sora

any way, it is _not_ law yet, it might get rejected again.

A new post on the official Mangagamer blog -- http://mangagamer.wordpress.com/2010...s-are-changing -- reports progress on DCIF, Da Capo 2 (suggesting it might debut as early as December 2010), Ef, and Edelweiss (re-translation, and the possibility of an iOS version in English).
