Default Game Trailers For Visual Novels

I'm currently going through gametrailers.com entire database of Bonus Round videos, and their episode on how game trailers are made(http://www.gametrailers.com/bonusround.php?ep=21&pt=1) got me thinking about game trailers in visual novels.

Often times, you can only find the opening animation used as a trailer before the game is released. Is there a better way for visual novel companies to promote their games through trailers?

I often find the trailers for horror visual novels to be more creative though.

I'm guessing the OP-only trailer is because the staff is hard at work getting the actual game done and people generally know what type of gameplay to expect and are really just interested in the art. I have seen some game promos where they insert gameplay footage, like for RPGs, etc. And then there's GIGA, who made a slew of trailers for Baldr Sky, but GIGA's a pretty big company.

Frankly, I find trial versions of games to be a lot more informative than game trailers.

I think that unless there is a substantial gameplay element there is little point in showing that the eroge in question displays text that you have to click through. People know that!

no, the trailers are just trailer anyway.
adding some HCG in trailer? some trailers had done that.
maybe putting a full version of OP song will make it better :D like DDC

so do I.

Exactly.
A trailer for a visual novel makes about as much sense as a trailer for a book...it's a bit difficult to give an impression of the story with a 1-2min long video, which is why there are trials.
