Mangagamer: Da Capo, Suika seemingly licensed

Well, I went ahead and bought Edelweiss at the lower price. Frankly, I think the quality of the translation is phenomenally unprofessional, and not to the level where a retail product should be. I'm not talking about subtle flaws where some Japanese may have been mistranslated, I'm talking about massive numbers of spelling errors and mistranslations, that hamper gameplay.

For example, the line (during locker-room talk about the girls in an all-girl's school):

There were only two options they had until we arrive. Either they mustervate or they become lilly.

I redownloaded HinataBokko, and the only file that was changed is .exe, with different icon (and maybe the title was changed, I didn't want to waste activation to get further), all other files have the exact same size (in bytes), so all that translation-tuning they talked about doesn't seem to have taken place.

That's pretty outright terrible, alright. I know they're trying to get the games out as cheaply as possible, but seriously, that's a bit below the minimum acceptable quality for that sort of thing.

The most frightening part was that you didn't post a translation to what it's suppose to mean, which makes me think you have no idea yourself.

Could this:

Mean this?:

There were only two options they had until we arrived. Either they masturbate or they become giddy.

Seriously I have no idea what the game or this particular sentence is about, without the actual context it makes it a bit difficult as to what it should really mean. Also if this is correct the word giddy would still looks a bit out of place.

Sorry that was me! after reading my own post it sounded as if I was targeting you, that wasn't my intention what I was trying to say is:

"Is the translation that bad that even within the context you can still misunderstand the sentences translated?"

I hope that cleared up any misunderstandings in my last post.

Anyways, I'm cursing myself for having deleted the response email so quick, but I emailed them about the possibility of releasing their products on a shippable hard disk format that people could actually hold and own, and they did say that while they can't right now, if they got enough supporters who wanted such a thing, they are prepared to consider offering such for shipping to Europe and USA. So If you want to hold onto your product, send them more emails =D.

Ugh thats no good, I had expected a little bit more. I couldn't really do much with the translation until Ojamajo_LimePie has said that lilly stands for lesbians.

I actually did figure out what that line meant, I thought it was obvious enough from context, especially for people with a Japanese background. The game proceeds fairly quickly to explain that "lilly" means "lesbian". The problem is that you had two errors in one line, and they were errors spell-check could have caught.

They're far from the only errors in the game, either. You get a similar groaner every dozen lines or so. For example: "I tried to lift my heavy eye rids."... a mistake that comes close to racial parody.

It does make sense since they use yuri there, and then lesbian two lines later. They had to make some slang term to describe it. However, this doesn't overlook the fact that they misspelled it.
