As I expected, the translation is horrible. However, it's perfectly understandable, so this could be a very great boon to people who are looking to play these games in English.

While I think the current price for the new titles, like Da Capo, is utterly insane for a download edition, the other titles are priced very well, and it certainly looks legit.

I don't know how are they expecting to have sales, I mean, most of the interested people would probably be in America and 80 dollars is not something everyone's ready to give for a download.

And even though I live in Europe, 50 euros is still a ridiculous price for a download, and with a not so good translation on top of that.

So, they''re supposed to be at JapanExpo that takes place this weekend? Hmmmmm... I have to go and ask them questions, then. Any question people would want me to ask them?

The pricing is fine IMO. Europeans are used to paying over €50 for a normal console or PC game. If you download a PC game via Steam or something it's not that much cheaper, if at all.
And in Japan 8-9000 yen is the norm for this kind of game.

I'm not sure you can compare it to the very specific market of 'console games in America', since it's not like gamers are going to be rushing out and buying these. If anything, it's more likely to be anime fans and such, or people who know enough about the genre already to be willing to spend a little more.

Question what title?

going by the Japan-Expo 2008 map, they do have a spot... "DC 16" and not "CD 16" as they wrote on their site, the map can be found here http://www.japan-expo.com/art-242-map.html

I don't suppose that one of the listed companies will make a comment on their English releases? can someone* contact them for an official response?

* with Japanese knowledge, which is the reason am asking instead of doing it myself

and for all it's worth, I don't mind the price, I've paid more for a PS3 game (~39 pounds which is roughly US$ 79). And I do pay more if I mail order them (which is why I love stopping by Dubai international airport.... I save a lot while there).

Heh, looks like they fixed the pricing:

Edelweiss: 49.95 euros
My sex slave is a classmate: 29.95 euros
Sandwiched by my wife and her sister: 19.95 euros
Shera, My Witch: 39.95 euros
Suck my dick or die!: 29.95 euros
Tasty Shafts: 19.95 euros
Which girl should I choose? (HinataBokko): 19.95 euros

Personally, I wouldn't buy it even if cost 1 euro. Heck, I wouldn't even waste my traffic on that rubbish if it was available for free.

Not much cheaper? 80% of the games on Steam are 19.99 USD or less, the most expensive one, at a glance, being Assassin's Creed (relatively new) at 49.99 USD.

I'm not sure what your definition of "not that much cheaper" is, but I'm sure not a lot of us share it.

Having said that, the more expensive titles are some of the better ones, anyways, so it's fair.

My problem is not so much the prices as it is the fact that you're paying so much for a game that you can only activate 3 times.

Quote:
The activation expires if
1) OS is re-installed
2) any file which is related to the game is deleted
3) any file which is related to the game is moved
4) chage hardware configration
I understand the need to limit the times you can activate the game, but with those prices I don't feel exactly satisfied at the possibility I'll lose the game because of some bad luck with my computer.

Except in Japan they come with packaging, illustrations, physical media, and manuals.

More importantly, if I pay full price for a game, it's a usually preorder, and for that price I'll get tokuten. At the least, I'll get a telephone card with a design I like. Often, even a bedsheet or pillowcase tokuten just brings it to 9000 yen.

Their pricing looks somewhat dubious, when considering their target market is probably the 18-25 age bracket, almost all of which are in the anime fans demographic. It's not a segment that's known to be rolling in cash, esp. in the economic climate right now.

Well, 40-50€ is a standard price in Germany for a new game, however for a download edition it's just too much. On the other hand we dunno about the high of the license fees they have to pay.

Nyah dude, most manga/ anime fans in Europe/ USA dunno Japanese. I don't think it'll hurt them when the translation is rather rough. And people who know Japanese buy these games for the half price on Yahoo Japan, so who cares.. ;)

I wonder if I can meet and interview the person who's behind this site. I live very close to the Netherlands border (as they are from there I heard) so it shouldn't be a problem to talk with them.

Well, that's true that a company such a PP didn't get to sign with a company such as circus so far, so perhaps some conditions were kinda... special? I'll see on Friday.

Add to that the stories we all know about how much the Japanese want for a license.

NO I don't know! care to fill us in?

On another note: Wow a bit steep for Da Capo don't you think?

49.95 Euro(s) = 82.4794 Australian Dollar(s)
Btw what do you think would happen if in twelve months - dare we say this company vanished - and I wanted to install this game on a brand new PC? (actually I already know the answer hahaha).
