Back on topic, are either of the two games currently available from MangaGamer any good, story-wise, issues of translation aside? Would they stand alone without their H-scenes? I haven't heard of either title before and haven't had a lot of time to go reading reviews.
Another quick question, are these 2 games ero games?

Yes, they are.

It reads like a bunch of chatspeak, with a few feeble attempts to clean it up (for instance, there's one section where someone obviously did a find and replace for "im" to "I'm," resulting in words like "tI'me" and "crI'me".

I know that the usefulness of the editor who is good with English but doesn't speak the original language going through and cleaning stuff up is disputed here, but the readability of this game would be improved significantly by someone doing just that.
Hmm... probably they were in the middle of disasterous hurry(cane)... Someone will create anti-typos patch surely... i hope... -_-

I must be one of the few people who didn't think Edelweiss was that great. I didn't find it very funny, and its story wasn't that great to me. On the other hand, I really liked Snow Sakura, though I wouldn't call it story-centered since it doesn't really have a story -- it's just all slice of life.

Maybe my opinion of Edelweiss will improve if I play all the paths, but I doubt it. It's slightly above-average at best so far. I'd give it a 3/5.

I couldn't finish the trial. Yeah I know these games are sexist but that was just too demeaning for me, as a female.

What did you find sexist in it? I didn't notice anything like that.

Haven't played Edelweiss, but that scenario writer definitely isn't sexist.

It's probably a matter of perception.

As with all bishoujo games, some might complain about the portrayal of women as sex objects (whether maliciously or not), which comes with the territory. Likewise, BL games objectify men.

But with Edelweisss, I guess the player's sense of objectification might be heightened by the behavior of the protagonist and his friends. All that slobbering + frequent references to sex and female anatomy (virtually the only thing the guys can think about within the demo) might put some women off.

Nevertheless, you could also argue that the game simultaneously pokes fun at guys.

Yeah that's a better way to summarize it, the characters were the sexist ones not the writers. I just got sick of reading their dialogue (with noone questioning them -_-) pretty fast. Course, those sorts of characters are pretty demeaning to men too I guess.

Edelweisss is the fourth game of the Green Green series. Its title is different because the developers jumped companies. Other than that everything is same. I you liked Green Green games or the anime, you'll love Edelweisss, if not don't even try it. :)

PS: I got so bored while playing Snow Sakura I can't put it into words...that game was so average in all aspects...

I keep seeing references to an Edelweiss demo... is there something I'm completely missing on the Mangagamer site, or are y'all referring to the Japanese demo?

At AX08, Circus apparently distributed MangaGamer sampler discs, which include an English Edelweiss demo.

Bingo :3

Anyone coming to ComicCon (in San Diego going on right now) who wants the disc can message me (PM) and I'll meet up and give it to ya :3

I only have 1 copy though so first come first serve

EDIT: I'm too lazy to check often so if anyone wants it meet me at Kotobukiya booth in front of the Little Busters! figures at 1130 sharp. (I'll wait a couple minutes) I'll be in a Hatsune Miku shirt.

I got an email today from mangagamer saying:

"Dear MangaGamer supporters,

We have been getting emails from our supporters to correct the spelling
and grammatical mistakes of subtitles in the game.

We have updated the game with those corrections.

Please visit us and log into "My account" and download the patch file to
update your game.

The patch file contains readme.txt. Please read it carefully.

We are sorry for your inconvenience.

Thank you for business at mangagamer.com"

It seems mangagamer recently created a patch for Hinata Bokko. I downloaded the patch and to my surprise, most of the grammar errors were gone! It's not perfect but its definitely a drastic improvement. Hopefully we will see the same treatment with edelweiss soon.

The only problem I have with mangagamer now is how they market their games. The description on their website for edelweiss and hinata bokko seems so wrong.

While I haven't played them, it seems like those two games would be better served if represented in a manner similar to DaCapo and Suika.

Glad to hear about the updates.
