It's pretty convoluted, yeah. My money's on it being a reference to the role reversal of Touka and Kyouko, but who knows.

chapter 3

I might have to reread the last bit of this chapter though, somehow it's a bit confusing to me.
My understanding of the scenario:
1. Touka forgave her mother.
2. Touka made a choice of not making any choice at all - If becoming an adult means abandon love, she would rather be a child forever.
There's a bit at the very end where Touka was somehow acting like a adult facing a child, but mother is still mother and daughter is still daughter right? Why would you guys interpret that as "reversal of the parent child relationship"?

Well yes, the reversal is obviously symbolic and not physical. Also note that was my subjective interpretation, it's may not be what everyone thinks. It has been a while since I've played so I have forgotten the details but

I believe Touka stayed to take care of her mother because she understood her mother would fall apart without her. She truly understood her mother's weakness (from Kyouko's own childhood abuse), and because of that, she doesn't hold any grudge against her mother whatsoever for burning her. In my interpretation it's that understanding that makes her no longer view her mother as a "parent" (the ones who constantly hands down commands, makes her study... etc etc) but as just another person who is just as weak and fragile. So she steps up and "overturns" her mother's command for her mother's sake.

Of course, it's also clear the game is trying to get the point across that sometimes as one grows up, they get crushed down and accepts the disappointments in life, and are forced to act "mature" and make unreasonable choices, even though in reality they're just as scared and confused (ie: Kyouko making the decision for Touka the day before). In this case, nothing is really resolved, and it's the child who finds a better way.

And that's also the reason why I love sachi's scenario - work not for the money, but for the love and dreams.

By the way, I know you two played cross channel right?

Did any of you cry during cross channel? I expect it to be a crying game but it didn't work for me. You could say seeing off those girls one by one is sad, main character's past is sad, and although the game emphasis on the connection (cross) between people, the main character is left alone at the end - that's sad.

But no, it didn't work for me.

And above all, the text is hard for me. Reading them (and those jokes) is not an enjoyable process at all. I guess that's a big minus.

I didn't cry (or get that close-to-crying-feeling that I sometimes get with particularly _effective_ nakiges) in Cross Channel. A lot of titles are named as nakiges without necessarily being worthy of the title.

I felt it was sad, like 'December when there is no angel' is sad, and 'SWAN SONG' is sad, but not necessarily nakige-level. Still loved the game, though.

Nothing quite 'Misaki-New-Years-card'-level in either game.
