Default Suigetsu: help wanted.

I'm posting to ask for someone to figure out how to dump and reinsert scripts from advwin32's MRG files (used in games by F&C such as Suigetsu and Majokko A La Mode) While i'm a semi-able translater, i can't program, and it's sad that these great games are avoided by both the companies that translate games, and the very few fan translation groups that are around. Could someone help out here?

if you think you can help, please contact me at c_volfield@yahoo.co.uk

This guy has some MRG archive tools to get someone started:
http://kotone.bunkasha.co.jp/~kenjo/susie/index.html

One of the tools will extract the text for Suigetsu. However, it wouldn't be in a readily insertible format. So either wait for someone to make a dumper/inserter or be prepared for someone to do a lot of grunt work to insert the script back in.

I hope you find a programmer, though.

Are you trying to tell us you're willing to translate these games? ;D

In my opinion it's better to go ahead and start translating.
Waiting on programming work would only slow you down.
Not to mention people will be more willing to help you when you have part of the job done already.

i'm not that naive, it's just kind of hard to do any real work without the scripts, and the program that zalas linked doesn't seem to save the text to a file.

Oh, so you can't even extract the files ?
My bad, I should have read your original text more carefully.

Read the help for this :
"ファイルにリダイレクトでもして使ってください。"
In the DOS prompt, do C:\<pathtothetool>\tool.exe > whatevernameyouwant.txt

a little update...

i received an e-mail from someone who wishes to remain anonymous, and from what little i'm able to understand, this person gave me some information about some of the inner workings of suigetsu and majokko a la mode dvd edition (the two games i'm planning to translate) as well as what i'm presuming is some kind of programming code which i can send to whoever wants it.

i'll try to understand and explain some of what he told me in an understandable manner...

the mrg files are encrypted and the individual .MES files are stored inside the .mrg file. They aren't compressed it seems, just encrypted.

Code:
mrg header

8.3 char file name, padded with 0s if needed
two null bytes
two bytes ??
two null bytes
0x01, 0x00
two bytes ??
two bytes ??
0x0b, 0x1b, 0xc5, 0x01
4 byte file offset
he also says that the decryption keys are stored in the system.unt file of the game and...

majo dvd, decryption key arrays stored at .data:0x1003554C and .data:0x10035558

suigetsu decryption key arrays stored at .data:0x10034738 and .data:0x10034744

there were some things in the .mrg files that he couldn't understand and he wasn't able to continue... but maybe this information will help someone.

I've contacted Canal, but just in case someone walks upon this thread later: I have tools for processing mrg and mes files, and they should work with small modifications on all advwin32 games. I also figured out the graphics, just need to make the tools usable.

Default I wish I could sage this.

Don't really mean to resurrect a dead thread, but this came up on my google search, and was totally useless, but I later found a plugin that worked.

I tried the .mrg plugins on the suigetsu guy's page and they couldn't read my majokko dvd.

But after a bit more digging, I came up with this guy:

http://homepage3.nifty.com/kagaya~/

Who seems to have a much better grasp of .mrg, and manages to actually cut up the files correctly and label them. (Though it still isn't displaying the .mcg formats correctly)
