Updated Planetarian How-To-Buy Guide

I was reminded recently that the guide for buying the downloadable Planetarian on insani's site was horribly out-of-date. Since I already wrote a guide for downloading the Higurashi games, I realized that I only needed to change a few words here and there and a couple images and it could easily work for Planetarian as well. Also, I think the program has been updated very slightly, because if the SEEN1000.txt file from the translation patch is in the folder, you get a screen with a white background and two black dots as text, and you can't do anything. If anyone knows how to fix that, the advice would be greatly appreciated. A temporary fix is to just delete the file, but the first few sentences will be in Japanese (the majority of the game is still playable, though).

That's the CD version. The patch can be easily tweaked to run on that but it is not supported by insani. (This is what I run)

Its not adult... Palet Web is kinda dumb about pc game ratings... LB, chaos;head those are all marked as 18+ as well when they aren't

I see I see. Personally, if I were to get a game, I would get a cd version, and not a download version. I like to have something physical to add to the collection :)

I was able to google the page and pull up google's cache :

Guide for downloading Planetarian from BGameBox

1. Go to the BGameBox site. On the opening page, choose the pink button to tell them that you're over 18 years old. This gets you into the site itself.
2. On the left side of the page, in the login section, you'll see a big red button. Click it, that allows you to register for the site.
3. This will give you a form. The areas with the red text to the right of it means that you need to fill out that field. I have marked on my image what is required in each of the fields. Your nickname can use any characters, while the family name have to be in kanji. Here you can either go wild with kanji, copy/paste the kanji used right below it, or just copy/paste the following kanji: 田中 義彦 (name made at random).

4. At the bottom of the page, there are more things you'll have to fill in. The first category is a list of things you can pick as your favorites. You have to pick at least one, so I've circled the safe choices, as I rather doubt you want them to think you like, say, rape, urination, shouta, and/or tentacles on accident. The ones I've circled are pure love, fantasy, science fiction, and sentimental. The second area is asking if you want to receive e-mail from BGameBox. You probably don't, so choose the option in the screenshot (the second option in the list). The third area wants your password.

5. Once you're done with all that, click the orange button on the buttom of the page. You are now officially registered! You don't even need to go to your e-mail to confirm that you used a real e-mail address. You still have to use a real one, however, otherwise you'll never be able to log in again (it gives you a user ID different from your nickname).


Now for the actual game

6. Go to the game here. Once you've reached the page, click on the button in the image to add the game to your cart.
7. Choose the option under circle number 1 to pay by credit card, then choose the button under number 2 to pay for the game.
8. After that it will give you a list of conditions and legal stuff. Choose the option circled in the picture, then hit the OK button.
9. At the next page, it will give you an option to use either a credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or E-Bank. I'm not familiar at all with the latter, so my guide will detail paying with credit card.
10. The next page will actually be in understandable English, so I don't think I need to make an image. Your credit card number must not have the dashes in it. Hit confirm to authorize the transaction.
11. When you're done with this, the site takes you to a page that shows your download contents. Once you're at the page, click the button to download the game.


Now, you just need to install the game. Happy gaming ^^

But there are no user friendly pictures... Mmmm

Yeah, the domain expired on me, and the guy who pays for it hasn't got his new credit card yet ;_; Hold on a moment and I'll upload a zip of the guide. I don't have the CD version, but I've heard you have to pull some tricks to get the patch to work on it.

yeah, getting the patch to work with the cd version is a major headache. You have to recompile the game script using rldev. There are a bunch of problems with words not properly wrapping to the next line that need to be touched up on throughout the entire script file. The download version is far less troublesome.

Less troublesome? That all depends on how long the DRM server lasts this time.

I refuse to buy DRM soft unless no alternative exists. Especially as someone out side of the target market of the program (as is the case with Planetarian).
