Funimation is interested in non-Japanese properties (think along the lines of Witchblade or Halo Legends). Basically, home grown franchises that are already popular with Americans.

They probably just googled "concerto note translation" or something similar and C&D'd the first page that came up.

Though I have to wonder why they picked this game... I've received nothing about Sharin or G-Senjou, if anyone was wondering.

the C&D's are quite exaggerated, in my own perspective. And besides, copyright laws are too broad. and if we say that its used in terms of education and reference, we can escape the violation. Also, If we base it by law, we are just translating the SAME content and in no way, infringe or tamper with it. And besides, the translators aren't supporting piracy and for almost every project, there's always the "support by buying the game" line. But as usual, the one who is at right has a shallow mind and tends to see that translating is a bad move. Well, on my opinion, it isn't if we just see this as an opportunity for export and promotion

Just my giving my dime on the C&D's

Before people start bashing Akabei too much over C&Ding a lyrics translation, it seems this 'Anime Novel' was, in fact, translating Concerto Note.

You are welcome to your opinion, but it does not look like you are familiar enough with copyright law.

That's about as real as the 24 hour rule people used to cite.

I wonder if they can be believed... Are they contacting MangaGamer?

If they are looking at officially releasing translations, it might be a good idea to contact them and ask if they would employ you to do it. They are probably looking at MangaGamer/JAST but it can't hurt to ask and who knows, if you can work something out, you might end up getting paid for something you were going to translate anyway!

They aren't worried about translation - their main concern is distribution.
