Default Might sound stupid but..here goes.. Help with Translating..

How do you translate Key's Air/Kanon game anyway? Do you need to have a wide knowledge about programming to do so or is there a program to use to translate these game? It would be great If there's a site I could visit that's really intended for this stuff but I don't know any site. I planned to make a translation of Air: All Age /w Voice, because my friend who doesn't understand (even just a bit) Japanese want's to play it. Anyway, I got nothing else to do anyway... so I'll devote my time to my friend.

Anyway, how did you manage to edit those PDT files? ^_^ I'd like to transate some of the picture which contains Japanese text in the PDT directory. Is there a software that converts graphics to PDT format?

You're on it. ;)

The answer is, if you want to do a reasonable job, you need to be a reasonably good programmer. I have various tools that make the job easier, but all they do is let you get at the game's source code - you still need to be able to modify it.

Seriously, you'd be better off waiting for zalas' project to come to something. If you have translation skills you might consider volunteering to help with that.

Several. This one does a pretty good job.

Anyway... might sound stupid and off topic again, but can someone help me translate these? or is there a site where I can asked for help with translating Japanese to English that will reply pretty fast. I'm having problems when it comes to complicated words... my Japanese is like for childrens 3-5 years old :p when it comes to reading (damn kanjis) and 3-7 when it comes to listening :p

胄年は旅のひと。
彼の道連れはふたつ。
手を触れずとも歩き出す、古ぼけた人形
「力」を持つ者に課せられた、はるか速い約束。

The only part I understand is, "he makes the old doll walk without touching it" I'm not even sure if that's correct though... :p

夏はどこまでも続いてゆく
青く広がる空の下で
彼女が待つ、その大気下で

Summer continues to where as well (I took it from the title ^_^)
She is waiting in the air
beneath the wide/vast blue sky

魔法が使えたらって、思ったことないかなあ?
Have you wondered what to do if you can use magic?

Is my translation correct? :D

I'll have a go.
My personal interpretation is:

胄年は旅のひと。
彼の道連れはふたつ。
手を触れずとも歩き出す、古ぼけた人形
「力」を持つ者に課せられた、はるか速い約束。

The young man is a traveller.
His companions are twofold.
A ragged old doll that walks even without being touched
and a distant promise imposed upon those who possess the 'power'.

(I'm pretty sure you mean 青年 in the first line and 遠い in the last)

夏はどこまでも続いてゆく
青く広がる空の下で
彼女が待つ、その大気下で

As poetic as the official translation is, I read the Japanese as:

Summer continues off into the infinity
Below the blue, unfolding sky
She waits beneath the air

魔法が使えたらって、思ったことないかなあ?
Have you ever wondered what you'd do if you could use magic?

Translation help is available at MO's board
http://donut.parodius.com/mo/

Good luck with the rest. Air was written with a fairly mature audience in mind, so it gets much harder from here on in =P

I'd almost succeeded in blocking out the traumatic memories of deconstructing Tori no Uta line by line with zalas, too...

Done translating the text in the Opening theme of Air, main menu and the CG main menu... it took me a while to adapt to Photoshop (actually, it's my first time using it, a frend of mine just recommended it :P), hmm... next is... the final words of Yukito's mother i guess... ^_^ laterz

damn...back to radical search again... :(

Eh, if you want really bad translations, head to GameFAQs.

Hell, forget about translations. Look at the romanizations.

I've seen "シロガネ" romanized as "Silogwane" there.

シロガネ, クロガネ, and ハガネ. "Silogwane", "Kulogwane", and "Hagwane".

Yo! Yes Yes Yo! Yo Yes Yes Yo! Errr... I might be breaking some bones and tree trunks (rules) here but can someone proof read/correct this or traslate this to a more appealing sentences, I couldn't get a reply at MO's board so... T_T. Mou... Ii yo? Mou... Ii yo ne? I did my best but I'm not too good with Japanese Grammar... so I'll give up and ask for help :p, anyway, just PM me the corrections or, just reply here so anyone can see them... T_T

WARNING! There might be a spoiler here because the text here are originally from the game, anyway, don't say I didn't warn you...

RMB1.PDT
我が子よ…
よくお聞きなさい。
これからあなたに話すことは… とても大切なこと…
私たちが、ここから始める…
親から子へと、絶え間なく伝えてゆく…
長い長い… 旅のお話なのですよ。

My Child...
Listen very well...
I'll tell you a very important story...
It will start from here...
a tradition that continues down from parents to children...
It's a very very long story... a traveling story.

RMB2.PDT

This star has just started to walk.
That's why, we're born here.
We will inherit infinite memories.
This star has experienced all the things (phenomena, matter) that occured, it has been passed from parents to children.
In short, that is the star's memories.
We are under the memories of that star.
The star's memories couldn't find happiness forever.
The heaven is shrouded by hatred and dispute at that time.
This star is grieving from sadness, every each one of them is hated.
Everything is returned to chaos, and everything is sent back to nothing.

RMB3.PDT

That's why, we must continue being happy.
To anyone living in the ground, in the sky, or in the sea, there will infinite blessing...
That is for sure, the cause of our duty.
To forget about it is not allowed, this is our pride.
There are many hardship that awaits in our path.
There are also pain and sadness.
We're going to stand and face the passage of time, we're not strong too.
Someday even us, will meet our end.
That is, an unavoidable end.
However, in the end...
to the last child who carry on the memories of the star...
Somehow, it's a memory of happiness.

RMB4.PDT
その時こそ…
わたしたちは役目を終え、眠りにつけるのてしょうから.
別れの時が来ました.
わたしは空に届けます.
この星の最初の記憶を.
あなたと暮らした、幸せな日々の記憶を

This time for sure...
We are to finish our duty, I'll keep an eye for you, so go to sleep.
The time to say good-bye has come.
I'll sebd this to heaven.
This star's first memory.
Living with you, is a memory of every day happiness

RMB5.PDT
悲しむことはありません.
わたしはいつまでも、あなたと共にあるのです.
雨粒が大河となり、そして海に集まるように…
だから…
あなたには、あなたの幸せを.
その翼に、宿しますように.

Don't be sad.
I will always be with you.
Raindrops near the river, and just like meeting at the beach...
so...
To you, to your happiness.
I'll stay in those wings

…たくさんの温もりを感じていた
それは…とても優しくて…
ずっと伝えたい言葉があった…
…生まれてくることはできなかったけれど…
とても永い時間がかかってしまつたけれど…
でも…それでも…
幸せだってと胸を張って言えるから…
いつだって、ここに帰ってくるよ
だから、今だけは………

I felt many warmth
that's... very gentle...
always teaching me words...
even though I couldn't understand...
even though it took a long time...
but... even still...
I can say in my heart that I'm glad...
I can always return here
so, for now.........

出会いの夏祭り…
「これ、ほしいな」
「うん? なんや?」
「きょうりゅうの赤ちゃん」
「はは…違うんやけどなぁ、これヒヨコやねん」
「飼いたいな…」
「ええよ,買うたる」
「わ―い」
そして、時間がたって…
何年もすぎて…
また夏がきて…
ふたり笑つてる。
大きく育った…
幸せといつしょに。

An encounter with Summer Festival...
"I want this"
"Yes? What is it?"
"Baby dinosaur"
"Haha... but you're wrong, this is a (chick) baby chicken"
"I want to raise it..."
"Fine, we'll buy it"
"Wai!"
And then, time passed by...
Years passed by...
Another summer has come...
smiling together.
She has grown big...
together with happiness.
