Default Unable to extract script text from nscript.dat

Hey guys, I keep getting garbled text when I extract from nscript.dat. I'm using NSDEC since it seems like it was designed for this, but it doesn't seem to work.

The game I'm testing it on is Shinsyoku 2, along with some other games by Touchable.
Here is some info: http://www.animecharactersdatabase.c...rce.php?id=520

Can anyone help?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, AnimED didn't seem to work either. The file it extracts still prints out garbled text.

Here's a sample file:

nscript.dat in question: http://www.mediafire.com/?tbd81e6a131ocvs

Hmmm… It might be that the nscript.dat has been encrypted to stop people from accessing the source code.

I'm not sure if it works, but you might be able to use decrkansa to decrypt the file, then use nscdec to convert it into a text file.

decrkansa only takes in .nsa file, which I think only contain music and cg files. I tried it anyway, and I couldn't get it to work. The program say unsupported file when the site says it supports the game?

I thought the game's text were in nscript.dat?

Yeah, the text is in the nscript.dat. I just thought that it might be possible to decrypt it using the same method.

Hmmm, it's strange… Haven't come across this before.

I'm not too familiar with NScripter engine, but I know that you can't simply write alphabetical text. You need to add a marker at the beginning of the line to make the game understand that whatever follows that mark is text to display and not a code (basically, if you simply write something like "hello" the game will try to call the command "hello", and when it can't find this command it crashes; so you need to make the game understand that "hello" is pure text, not a command).
The marker to use changes depending on the version of NScripter you want to use. If you want to use the original NScripter you have to add ">" at the beginning of each text line. For the ONScripter-en version you need to add "`" and for the PONScripter version you need "^". You can find all the commands here

Anyways, if you want to translate in English I suggest you to use ONScripter-en, otherwise to use PONScripter. You can find both at Uncle Mion's site. Note that a few games (probably most of the newest) are not compatible with PONScripter and ONScripter. You can try, though.

I don't know. Probably it's a bug caused by partial incompatibility with the game, since generally when you use ONScripter-en the space between words should be showed. You should ask Mion's help here.

However, if you encounter this bug you may encounter others. Before starting a translation you should test all the sections/menus of the game. Expecially the save/load menu, since the newest NScripter games tend to have a customized save/load menu (generally with a lot of slots and/or a screenshot for each savedata) that should not be compatible with ONScripter.
Anyways, can you say which game is it?
