How NOT to get the Makoto story line?

I have searched this forum, I can't find anything and I don't want to accidently read a spoiler in a walkthrough.

I'm trying to get Nayuki story line, but (I think) I'm getting Makoto's insted.
Walking home together, finding the cat... altough I have no idea if that happens in Nayuki's story too
Am I supposed to ignore all her pranks, or am I supposed to make them backfire?

And is there anything specific you have to do to get Nayuki's story?
