Hau Omochikaeri The one blog that cannot go unmentioned. Three years running and By far the most popular blog around that covers untranslated Eroge (thanks in part to vndb summaries). Best known for Micchi/Zen-combo Monthly Eroge previews.
Visual Novel Aer I gather the latest eroge news from Japanese news blogs (and other sources) that I find interesting then post them on my blog.
Relentlessness relentlessflame is a very well thought out writer. Detailed reviews and articles. Blog covers both Eroge and Anime. He's a big fan of moege.
Liemyx's blog Nice blog. Eroge reviews (and some otome-ge). Consistent updates. Liemyx also occasionally do monthly previews.
Goldensneer's blog Posts about visual novels and various others. Good read.
Amaenbo New blog. Eroge impressions and reviews.
7 Nights Translations. New blog. "Recently graduated professor in history who should be writing his thesis but is instead playing VNs" Does visual novel reviews.
ero + dere New blog. Covering the wonderful world of eroge.

Hi. First of all thanks for the effort of listing the blogs. Perhaps this is just me and I hope you won't take this the wrong way, but do these reviews really help people?

The problem is that most of the games are not translated (and a big portion of the community has no or a very weak grasp of Japanese). Which brings us to the next problem that even if you decide that a certain game is fun to play, you can't actually play it because it's not translated. This only leaves people to enjoy the reviewer's articles (I personally enjoy Ixrec's reviews and I wholeheartedly welcome a good read from other authors as well). But if the reviewer doesn't have good writing capabilities, it's basically a waste of time.

Without pointing fingers to anyone, I actually want to take this opportunity to rant about some meager reviews that go "you get to shag the girls X times, the music was good/bad" and so on. I think it's useful for the reader to get some information about plot and character development and perhaps an in depth analysis of these two elements (I know this won't apply to half of the games, but there are enough pretentious VNs around) would will pique the readers' interest more for sure.

And if you still decide to pick up a game, you will only be able to enjoy the images/music/voice acting but nothing more. It's also a fact that playing games with translation tools will never provide a good experience. A vicious circle, IMO.

I would think that those blogs are meant primarily for people who play untranslated VNs. It's not a problem per se, it just means that they're confined to a smaller readership. I'd like to see more editorial-style eroge blogs as well, rather than just news and reviews, but I suppose it'll come with time. Hard to be demanding when we're dealing with a sphere of maybe 10 sites.

The only time was in /jp/ was around the time MangaGamer released Koihime Musou, in order to follow the progress of the fan made voice patch.

When they finally got a stable version, I wrote a post saying "Thanks for all the hard work."
The very next post was directed at me and was as follows: "ur a faggot." So basically I thank someone and one of the assholes there calls me a faggot. That place is just a fucking wasteland.
