Promising.

As short as the demo was, it's clear that many of the themes from the first game are both present and skillfully depicted.

Even on a casual play through, it's difficult not to draw parallels between Setsumi's introduction to the world of 07F and that of the previous protagonist's in the original game. It's also plain to see (most strikingly from the preview trailer) that the interaction with this new character is to become instrumental in shaping Setsumi's world view to that which she holds at the beginning of the first game.

Presentation-wise, it's nice to see that Kataoka-sensei has deliberately made an effort to retain the minimalist approach rather than going for the more mainstream interface shown in the earlier screenshot. The textbox/tachie layout was nice in its own way, but there's no denying that the pacing and direction benefit greatly as a result of his decision.

The question for all of us waiting to take a crack at translating it is, will the work really be switched over the the current (der, most recent T_T) NNS house engine, Majiiiro was it?, or remain on Nscripter.

Barely a day after that annoucement, Key Fans Club has received the Kataoka stamp of approval and released their translation of Narcissu -Side 2nd- Preview into traditional and simplified chinese.

Incidentally, the official English localisation of the preview is also under way, though it's taking longer than a day because I'll be slaughtered if I slack off too much on al|together stuff. -_-;

In the meantime, suggestions for how to translate "uso-pyon" are welcome.

Kataoka-sensei says he's decided to stick with NScripter for simplicity's sake. (I'm almost disappointed... I might have been able to wangle some inside information on Majiro out of him if it had been necessary. ^^)

Speaking of translating, I'd imagine there's an army of people chomping at the bit waiting for the final version to come out. I wonder if it'd be possible to organize it into a slightly cohesive project. At the very least a showcase for all the different translators to show their stuff like last time.

Agilis, I know that I for one, have been frequently checking the Narcissu website to see if the final version is out!

That already exists. I'm translating, since Kataoka-sensei has asked me to; Ed of insani will handle any tricky stuff. For a short NScripter game, that's all it takes.
