Redacted-- read on to the next page for an exciting discussion about Peach Princess!

Added Love Hina Advance to the index after some pondering. This was the first dating sim I ever played! ('-')b Good memories. Unfortunately, the only website I know of for it has the ROM available. So, I just linked to the original, dead patch website.

Q3. Where can I talk about PC novels?
Hence, not specifically fan translations.

Do they talk about fan translations on those BBSes? believe the primary output of those companies is plotless schmutz. But then again, it's the same case with Megatokyo, so I could be wrong.
Easy there. Peach Princess' BBS may be a company BBS, but it houses many bishoujo game fans and discussions regardless. Fan translation discussions also pop up from time to time. G-Collections' BBS never was really active, but I only mentioned it for the sake of being complete.

And I find your "plotless schmutz" remark offensive. Peach Princess mostly releases games with a good plot and/or a good premise. It's G-Collections that mostly releases "plotless schmutz", and even then, they do release a plot-driven or decent game from time to time.

You can't expect the translating companies to instantly release all the good stuff. The English bishoujo game market is still very much in its infancy, the Japanese companies are hesitant about licensing, and the more popular the game you want to license, the more it costs. Hence why it needs to start off with crappy titles and/or sex-romps.

EDIT: I disagree with you entirely, but arguing over such petty things does no good. I want this community to grow, not splinter.

I'll add both forums to my list in a few hours.

I'm open to any debate/argument.

You're creating a splinter by disagreeing without naming reasons as well, as you're effectively rejecting the people who do share my beliefs and like the games Peach Princess and G-Collections releases.

Alright, I wasn't very clear and I guess I have to write about my worthless suspicions.

The Japanese stereotype of the hedonist, perverted otaku who lives in a dirty apartment and is devoted to base pleasures was largely self generated. This image developed in the 90s, and in a similar situation in the U.S. (furrydom) the perverts won out as well. I think this was due to a number of things, but primarily they are (1) the promotion of pornography as art and (2) useless bickering on the Internet.

If you want to distinguish legitimate seinen and visual novel fans from the hedonists as this movement develops in the English-speaking world, I think you have to make a good effort to keep PC novels separate from porn, because porn games have beat PC novels to market in large quantities. But arguing doesn't help-- I don't mean to insult you and it was a mistake to dispute your suggestion.

I can certainly understand your point of view now. In fact, I think you're right. But like I stated above, various factors make it hard. And I want to state again that not all the games they release are sex-fests.

Link to http://donut.parodius.com/?func=tran...ba&gamekey=454 for the Love Hina Advance game. It should have a mirror of the patch and a description of the game.

I think your website is very useful mainly because the donut staff don't really like adding visual novel type games because they're hard for the staff to locate (they verify and test patches before putting them up) and they prefer games with more "gameplay" and on console. I think it would do us and them good by offloading the eroge/galge translation indices onto our site and they can concentrate on ROMs/console, etc.

I just realized there's no mention of first Air translation among the dropped projects on your list. There was available patch of it in which Misuzu's route of first Air chapter was pretty much fully translated. URL of the project was http://odin.prohosting.com/creign/Air/index.html though it's dead now.

Actually, as Zalas could tell you, the current project he has absorbed the previous translation effort. So it's not lost ^^

If Clannad qualifies, then Iron Maiden should, too. roxfan, do you have your site info for it? And you can get Chaotic Reign's AIR patch off my webpage at www.cjas.org/~zalas/AIR/
