Exactly! That's why the class could only hold back their laughter for a few moments. Not even a university class is free from the misconceptions between the Japanese and Chinese cultures. ^_^

Curse my high school for not offering Japanese 1, 2, and 3. Curse the rival high school for actually offering those classes. In fact, I'm stuck in spanish, which isn't particularly useful or interesting.

I'm thinking about taking Japanese in college. About how many years before I can actually start understanding these games? BTW, I'm Chinese, so Kanji comes easily.

... CLANNAD h-game? Well I just can't forgive Key for trying to shove h-scenes down us... the ones in Kanon were just downright horrid and had no point in the story.

that was like my high school. if you wanted to do any language courses you had to do it in another school and the closest was an hour's travel by train.

though I am considering picking up Japanese as electives next year for uni, mainly as I do not wish to do just one unit for the semester :P

I guess it all depends on how good you are at memorizing vocabulary, then. I consider Japanese grammer to be much simpler than the broken rules and exceptions of English, so for me the problem lies mainly in the memorization of the vocabulary (not so bad) and kanji (the bane of my existance). If you've got kanji down pretty well, I'd say that will be pretty invaluable later on. I'm not sure how all colleges work, but we didn't really start learning kanji until JPN103, and then it was really basic stuff like numbers and days of the week. I didn't have Japanese in high school either, so it is something you can pick up in college, and most 100-level classes will assume you've had no foreknowledge of the language. If you at all have a choice of teachers, try to pick a native Japanese speaker - the difference between learning from someone with an academic knowledge of the language and someone who grew up speaking it is enormous.

Again, these are just my experiences, and I'm in no way professing to be even remotely knowledgeable about learning Japanese in a college environment. ^_^

Yea we have one professor who everyone says is an excellent teacher, Anzai. I just barely managed to slip into the last spot for her class.

I think I'd be seriously interested in picking it up - price and available funds at the time being the main factors. I just can't help but think that there might be some limited first-print goodies or at least cover art like they did for Clannad, which really has my interest.

Of course, that I'll have managed to pick up Clannad by then goes without saying.

Fairly cheap for a 18+ game, but it *is* a fandisk...makes you wonder how much amount of text it'll have.

I received a mail from versammeln today. Since I read AstCd2's post
beforehand, I thought the mail was announcing TomoyoAfter's release date.
Turned out it was about another game going on sale...bummer.

I don't think key thinks of it as one.
