Haeleth Now why didn't I think of that before?

As for the main point, it's nothing too serious. I'm just trying to render text to a buffer that I can return portions of in a format compatible with the output of GetGlyphOutline() as called with the GGO_BITMAP flag. And the number of hoops I have to jump through to achieve this putatively simple task is getting to me.

(An' count yerself lucky yer readin' English with a 26-letter alphabet. When I were an English major we only 'ad 23 letters and whatever runes we could scrounge. An' we liked it!)

GreatSaintLouis Haeleth, I noticed your horrified/disgusted post on the Windows GDI and was wondering what new horrors it had inflicted upon you.

Bear in mind, I'm the one who fled screaming from C and changed my computer science major to an art major before finally settling on one almost as far removed from computer science as possible: English. Although, it's hellish enough in its own right, and we still use c quite a bit, but there are 25 other letters, too.

Nevertheless, I suggest that you turn to DOS if Windows programming gets to be more trouble than it's worth. The limited 4-color palette of CGA is perfectly suited to the muted tones of the snowy landscape of the anonymous (presumably in Hokkaido?) town in Kanon, and one would imagine that Nayuki's head would look pretty funny squashed down to 320x200.
