currently they will allow old PSone games (2 titles at the moment), no word yet on if they will allow all imports in the future (include PSP VNs) or not.

A full translation patch (which might still have some bugs or typos) for Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side First Love Plus (the DS port of the PS2 game, with full voices) has been released at http://sites.google.com/site/tokimemogs1/home . This is a romhack.

The specific games are a shmup called Gaia Seed, and the PS1 version of Cho Aniki, aka the *manliest* shooting game ever.

Monkey Paw's home page currently states that the staff "...wants to rock your retro world with games that make you feel like you did growing up…" The founder previously worked at Hudson, and has expressed an affection for Japan's old school action games. The company has a forum, but as of this writing, it's very quiet. So if you're interested in talking with the company, join the forum.

No they're not. Nothing wrong with translating something in an official capacity and being paid for it-- I'd give Kouryuu as an example of that, while still considering him a fan.

Yes, how dare someone who dedicates hundreds of hours of their life to bringing something to the fans ask for optional donations that will inevitably amount to less than a dollar an hour for their work. Outrageous!

There are as many reasons for why translators translate as there are translators on the planet. Necrosis translates for donations - and that is fine by me. In fact, I believe more and more of the world's economy and livelihood will become dependent upon donations in the future, as you will see.

I'm cool with donations and all, even for fan translation. You want to shove a paypal button up on your fan translation site, whatever, I've no problem with that. It's the whole Dark Translations I'll-start-once-you-pay-me-$500 that I've a problem with, because that's basically charging for translations, which is making money from someone else's work without permission. That's rotten.

While I wont go as far as to say I'm not a disgusting rotten human being, it's in my best to clear up two things so people don't have the wrong idea.

1) I'm not waiting for $500 to start working on GSS, it's already been underway (see here for progress and here for my contributions).

2) If I had to C&D or otherwise abandon my project, the donations I received for the incomplete work would end up needing to be refunded depending on circumstances. But thats just my word, and it was never documented, there is no obligation to believe me at this point in time.
