Red face title will be misunderstood in English

sorry, must have misunderstood the post since I read it a connected question. Sorry about that.

by the way... no matter how I look at it, hako is _not_ a dark title... it a very light title (I have it as well). But I guess we can have dark training titles and light training titles. Hopefully light training titles won't suffer from the new censorship. I haven't thought of hako as a training title until I saw the unreg post.

Default UN sucks

Bad news guys, the UN has decided that real world issues aren't important anymore.

http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/0...ds-hentai-ban/

You heard it here first guys, apparently Japan is the only country that has art forms that depicts sexual violence and rape.

From what I read, it's just media with graphic depiction of rape.... why such the big fuss?! If you're getting kicks off of watching women get raped, then you need your head examined! (Yeah, I said it... don't go ape over it =P)

Why do you think I avoided eroge for the longest time?! That's what I thought it all was! I didn't think once that there were stories about true love, loss, and redemption (the kind of shoujo stories I grew up with so to speak. If you need comparison, think of a much happier Piro from MegaTokyo XD).

And now, I leave this topic for the time being yet again.

Yeah, I don't like rape themed eroge myself, but that doesn't mean it should be banned. I, and many others I know, hate the Twilight series but that doesn't mean we think it should be banned. I hate eating pork, but that doesn't mean I think everyone else should be forced to give it up. What people like is not only their business, it is also their right as a human being to like it and have access to it.

Late comedian Bill Hicks put it this way:
"Here is my final point. About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography and smoking and everything else. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, say, think, who I fuck, what I take into my body - as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet?"

Also, you should realize that giving way to these people over what seems trivial at first is a terrible mistake. You know the famous saying "if you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a bowl of milk" or "give an inch, and they'll take a mile"? If we allow these people to ban rape themed eroge, what's to stop them from demanding the banning of all the rest of the eroge? Or maybe they'll move on to demand the banning of anime and manga with ecchi content from the mature stuff like in Berserk, Gantz, and Tenjho Tenge, to light stuff as seen in Negima, Ah My Goddess, and Bleach, all claiming that it portrays women in a degrading manner.

I got the blu-ray copy of Watchmen yesterday and watched the first half (before going to bed).... it contains violence against women and an incomplete rape scene. So will this one be banned as well?!

any way, will a declaimer at the beginning of the eroge delivered by the girls in the title (with their voice actresses) that what is about to be seen is fictional and illegal in real life, therefore it must never be tried in real life. Would such a declaimer be helpful?! I saw such declaimers in car racing games and at the end of Fast & Furious.

hey, how about this blog. May be we should ban violence against women in anime.... while at the same time we laugh and enjoy titles like "Ranma 1/2" which have lots of funny moment involving a girl beating the crap out of a boy!

the problem here is that people are trying to treat anime fictional characters as real characters! (and they are being very selective about it) Believe it or not, but written rape and violence against women is legal in the west and is protected by freedom of speech. Yet now they are claiming that eroge (and anime in general) should be treated and looked at through the eyes of real life laws?! If a law is being broken then I am for the ban (or more accurately the removal of illegal items from the market), but if no law is broken, then the ban is simply based on some public and influential people trying to remove items from the market that they personally feel offended by them. Since eroge is completely fictional, it should be protected by freedom of speech, should I take this as a sign that EN and now the UN have issues with freedom of speech and that they would like to make some restrictions to that freedom?!

This is what really need to be looked at here, are laws been broken or are some people in the west trying to abuse their authority? (by the way... did you know that it is illegal for a young person to take part of a military conflict?.... so should we ban titles like Final Fantasy and Tales of Vesperia because they show young people fighting?!)

@ JRaiKetchum, it is the principle of accepting and supporting a ban that you should look at... not the fact that what is getting banned is not something you like.

While I think banning all video games or manga that dealt with rape and sexual violence is too extreme, I think I'd consider the right to retain surnames after marriage, the improvement of working conditions for women, equal pay, the establishment of a direct line of contact for reporting gender inequality issues and the question of "enlisted" comfort women to be pretty substantial real world issues worth caring about.

You might be comfortable with extremely good titles like Eien no Aselia: The Spirit of Eternity Sword getting banned for containing events that are shocking, dark, relevant to the story and conducive to the game's excellent atmosphere just because they contain content that you don't think makes for good okaz, but SOME of us see visual novels as something more than masturbation material.

Seconded. I've played quite a few games where I don't particularly like the fact that someone is being sexually mistreated, but it has a point in the story. I know there's at least one scene along those lines in Soul Link.

Third'ed

I don't see why books or movies are OK but videogames are "dangerous".

We need to be able to express the dark side of life as well as the lighter.
