Default Visual Novels in High-Res?

Well, are there any Visual Novels in higher resolutions than the standard 800x600? I love to use nice VN CGs as desktop wallpaper, but the rather small size always leads either to some notable loss in quality or it only covers half the screen. VNs were never technically demanding, I know that, but maybe some studios at least experimented with higher resolutions?

いな☆こい is a 800x600 resolution game, but for some reason, they have two copies of their event CG in their archive files, one at 800x600 and one at 1600x1200...
Your other choice is to go buy an artbook and scan a few pictures from it.

Some games (muvluv alternative) come to mind, but they're definitely the minority. It's a little bit sad, because the graphics are usually drawn at a much higher resolution (you can get a bunch of Devil on G String's backgrounds, event CGs and character sprites in the promo pack, at very high resolutions, e.g. 3307x2480), but they're scaled down to 800x600, which kinda sucks because those of us that play these games fullscreen probably use 1600x1200, 1280x960 or something as our native resolutions.

Of course, stuff like that promo pack are perfect if you just want them for backgrounds.

Primitive Link is done in widescreen, there's quite a few that have higher resolutions but I'm at work now and I don't have any references handy..

Ugh... then if the standard goes from 800x600 to 1600x1200 that means the artist raw files will have to jump from 4000x3000 to 8000x6000.

640x480 is the good ol days. The future is minimalist.

Ever17 also includes high-res versions of CGs (up to 1200x900 IIRC), even though the game itself is 800x600.

Also, the highest resolution VN I know is the German doujin VN "Felix, Gaijin", which runs in full HD (1920x1080) natively. Then again, its CGs (it only has event CG, no sprites) are processed photos and probably not what you want for a wallpaper.

bah, people should hack the servers of some VN companies and leech all their original images... there's so much great artwork in VN's, little chance they'll ever get released to the public

I don't know if they're available from inside the game itself, but Lamento has high-res versions of the background pictures (1920 x 1080) and cg (2400 x 1800) in its image archive folder (which can be accessed through an unpacker program). Then again, I'm not sure how interested you are in BL visual novels :P

I just got Memories Off 5 Deluxe version (basically the same as the DVD version with some extra goodies). In the config of the game, you can choose up to 1280*960, which I think is by far one of the biggest resolutions I have come across on any VN.

I hope games in the future like 12Riven (seeing that T-Time is also making a PC port of it) will also support this resolution, or even higher like 1680*1050 so I can play full screen on my wide screen monitor. :D

I agree, I absolutely love the resolution of mo5 (there is much to be done when it comes to options, text speed, and things like that though, and the start up screen tells you so "click to continue" which is one of the most annoying thing ever exepet for maybe the mai hime game which makes you go through around 20 seconds of commercials. yes, I'm exatterating, but it is really slow to get through the diffrent companies).
I'm also pretty sure that toheart2 another days has higher resolution than the standard 800x600, but I'm not entirely sure. It is smaller than the 1024 thing though.

Here's one right?
http://xoops.frontwing.jp/product/timeleap/index.html

I don't know if many visual novels are in 3d, but it seems kind of nice.
Looks like there's a 400 meg? trial version of it somewhere in the downloads...
And there's also a free benchmark program offered, which is how I found out about it :
http://benchmark-otaku.blogspot.com/...oot-bench.html

You can get the 60 meg benchmark here, or look for a working mirror on their site~
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TZI3CR48

EDIT: Personally, I'd like to see a mix of 3d everyday scenes, and decently high res artwork. Something like first create a normal game full of CG art, then bring those scenes to life with 3d, true to the original pictures.
... lol well at least it sounds nice.

I like how Timeleap requires Crysis level specs.
