Do you think that female consumers in the US are ready for otome games?

That's a genre that attracts a lot of attention in Japan, so I am interested in knowing how it would do in the US. I'm interested in the market. Nippon Ichi did venture into that genre in Japan with Broccoli, but not in the US. It all depends on NISA, so you might want to ask them. (Souhei Niikawa, president of NIS)

No, there's no market for it. Both Animamundi (sure that's not otome but you get the point), and both Yo-Jin-Bo were confirmed to have rather lacklustre sales and they were actually decent games both.

Not really, because there aren't really any viable titles that would make solid hits - Hakuouki and the rest of Otomate's catalogue sell mostly on art alone with plotlines as thin as ditchwater, Koei's Neoromance franchise would cost a fortune to license, while other properties are barely known over here save for some 18+ titles (Under The Moon, Tsuki no Hikari Taiyou no Kage).

But if they really wanted to, Broccoli's Uta no Prince-sama isn't a bad choice - at least it's got a boatload of famous seiyuu and a good artist on board, that'd help in getting attention.

2010.08.21. We have mostly agreed to final terms and are awaiting a response from the other involved parties.

A new web site is being created. Hopefully we can reveal the details soon!

What do you think they're planning? Would be nice to see a download edition of Wind, maybe more people will play it. I know it's not considered to be a particularly good game but I enjoyed it way back when.

I think they said ef and Wind will never again be available. I can see that they wouldn't exactly sell a lot when most people have played them already, but it's a shame they're gone forever.

ef and Wind are still out there if you know where to look.... Obviously saying anything more would be a violation of forum rules....

If and this is a big IF - all of this is legit, a likely scenario is some kind of official release of eden*. At this point there is precedent for fan translators going commercial so the notion isn't completely out of left-field.

Someone can correct me on this but my understanding is that the standard version of eden* has no sexual content and it's the eden* PLUS+MOSAIC add on disc that actually adds sexual content. For all of the bullshit that went on with ef, I believe one of minori's legitimate concerns was the legality of the sexual content of their games in other countries. One of the negotiating points may very well have that PLUS+MOSAIC would NOT be translated and it would only be the original no sexual content version. Again this is assuming any of this is legit.

I interpreted that as meaning that they wouldn't be distributing/supporting the translations since they're dealing directly with minori now, not that they're never going to use them in the future. That said, now that you mention it, it would be kinda hard to try to sell ef right after giving everyone enough time to play it...

To correct any possible misconceptions here, PLUS+MOSAIC, while requiring the original eden*, does not add ero content to the main game - it just adds four 'side stories' that contain ero. Apart from the fact that it requires the original and installs over the original, it's effectively a fandisc. Trust me; nobody would miss those stories if they were missing. I think most of us that bought PLUS+MOSAIC were extremely disappointed with it.

as it have been pointed out in the past by other people, here and else where. Their always fresh blood to be tainted by eroge, that fresh blood will find it a lot easier to buy the official release then to try to find, the-as-on-now-unavailable, physical copy of the eroge then to try to apply the translation patch to it.

honestly guys, if we really are the only western erogamers, then the market will die out soon enough.

Danes work up head of steam over manga exhibition
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/08/24/denmark_manga/
Quote:
The exhibition includes erotic manga such as Taro Shinonome's Swing Out Sisters, Kondom's Bondage Fairies, Tuna Empire's The Spirit of Capitalism, Kengo Yonekura's Pink Sniper, and Yumisuke Kotoyoshi's Juicy Fruits.
anyone even heard of those manags? they have been selected to represent loli manga by someone who wish to use them to start the debate on the ban (or not) of loli works..... while saying "But we’re not showing the works for the sake of displaying child pornography."

Some extrema famous stuff there you listed, specially the bondage faries, if you don't know the history of those works study it some more, nothing there is special rare of weird. None of those items contain any special hardcore stuff either worth to mention.

Keep in mind that the titles there is translated not romanised.

Remember that the exhibition says that it is not showing anything actually pornographic, but still tries to give examples of how little girls can be used in manga. Which may result in it looking stupid to people who actually know about that stuff.

NNL updated again.
Nobody seems to care anymore, but can someone at least tell me what the text at the bottom of the page says? There is a lot more of it than before.
