It's not quite been four years though because, by the devs own admission, progress was at a standstill for two years as they had no idea what they were doing...

A convenient way of looking at it. In any project you do, not just translation ones, people look at the start and finish dates. If everyone calculates according to the "actual" time spent on the project, then we may as well not bother with deadlines for things such as assignments- not saying that KS devs are obliged to actually follow any "deadlines", so to speak.

On the Gbatemp.net forums, Jjjewel (who was one of the main people behind the Tokimemo Girls Side translation) has posted a "test patch" for the original LovePlus DS game. As you will read here -- http://gbatemp.net/t272861-love-plus...nslation-patch -- this patch has "...some menu translations and partial English translation... there may be misspelling and grammar errors... Some [parts] of the translation and some programs used for this patch are from TLWiki Project. So the credits go to the contributor there."

Thanks to the Visual Novel Database, I learned that a complete translation patch for the adult yuri VN "A Kiss for the Petals - My Dear Prince" has been released. This link to the translator's blog entry is worksafe -- http://axypbworld.wordpress.com/2011/01/09/sh2/ -- but the blog's links, such as the purchase page on DLSite, are NSFW.

EDIT: A few hours after writing this, I found an untranslated game called センパイ×彼女 on XBox Live Arcade. As far as I can tell, it's a fairly moe visual novel (though it's categorized under Action).

Thanks to romhacking.net, I read that the Pia Carrot 2 (PC) translation has been making progress. The specific page on Matt's Messy Room has several updates, and the latest says, "Progress is now at 50% for the 1st draft of the script translation." There's also a tiny update on the Pia Carrot 2 GBC spinoff.

Also on the site, there's a little bit of news about fan translations of some licensed games, including Urusei Yatsura - Stay With You (PC Engine CD) and the PC-FX version of an Ah My Goddess title. Both might be adventure games, visual novels, or some hybrid thereof.

wait, wasn't this licensed by JAST (or one of its companies)? I know that it no longer appears in their "upcoming releases" list, should I now assume that is is no longer being licensed?

or am I mixing the licensed series with this other series?

Since this hasn't been posted here yet. Ixrec from Amaterasu approached age about officailly localizing the Muv Luv Trilogy and offering his TL for free (supposedly to reduce delays in negotiations for money).

I would agree that if MLA doesn't do well officially, it is safe to say that the Eng. VN market is full of leeches and is quite unviable.
