If anyone else was curious exactly how the ef press release changed, I made a diff. WinMerge seems to have killed the em dashes (don't blame me; I passed it unicode files)

This Indie Game's Sales Are A Feel-Good Story
http://kotaku.com/5656746/this-indie...eel+good-story

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale sales 26,000 digital copies. MG should get the hint and try to get an all-ages eroge with some game play* into steam and other digital stores

* assuming that steam would allow an eroge into their store, game play or not.

well, you said 'all-ages eroge', so I presume you mean not eroge, in which case I don't see why Steam should have any problem with it.

Project Zoom909 ( http://zoom909.blogspot.com ) just recently finished translating the doujin soft VN "Mirai no Kimi to, Subete no uta ni," which features Hatsune Miku of Vocaloid2 fame. The original visual novel is on sale on the English DLSite under the title "To You of the Future - I give you every song..." for 630 yen. Unlike much of the products on DLSite, this does not include any explicit content.

Several people on the Carpe Fulgur forums are already talking about what titles would merit localizations. It's not at all clear if the company will be able to publish console games (even just on XBLA or PSN).

But if you can think of a game or VN that will work on modern Windows computers, that has no adult content, and that might not be expensive, be sure to mention it on the Mangagamer or the Carpe Fulgur forums.

It's hard to tell something that might be popular. Good and popular can after all be very different things at times.

I could go through a couple of possibilities:
Harvest Green, Oukoku Shoutengai and Limitless Bit (games, SLGs that have been very popular on dlsite)
Touhou no Meikyuu (dungeon exploration, very popular on DLsite, not sure how popular Touhou is outside Japan but the branding can't hurt)

Ultimately nearly all of the good non-free doujin VNs I've played have been 18+. Higurashi and Umineko are probably the most famous examples of the exception, but really, when I go to think of all of the good doujin VNs that I feel could be popular, they're nearly all 18+. There's other very good non-18+ ones but they're stuff like Momiji wa Akaku Sonomi wo Somete that are a kind of story I don't think people who aren't already VN fans would appreciate.

I think pretty much all Touhou are off-limits for Carpe Fulgar at this point, or at least until ZUN thinks it's okay for derivative works of his games to reach a large international commercial audience. ZUN's current "open permission" for derivative works to be created kind of asks for them to be distributed only at doujin-level events. For something like a derivative work to be distributed overseas and commercially would probably require ZUN to first change his viewpoint and allow the actual games to go overseas officially first.

Dunno why; I mean, anyone can buy them from DLsite. They kind of HAVE an international audience already, it's just that the international audience doesn't know about them w

The rules state they can be sold at doujin shops, DLsite's primarily doujin correct.
Comercial distribution (outside of doujin shops) needs his explicit permission, which I gather he's against for non-japanese stuff.
