I would offer to host if I can review the software being installed/used.
*currently has one dedicated server mostly unused*

Wow, a whole dedicated server? Really? I would love a backup for my gopher server, can I host it on yours?

Default Good news from the shoujo world

It seems there is a group being assembled on the Neoromance forums which is aiming to create a fan translation of the otome game Princess Nightmare. They are currently recruiting members. See the thread here -- http://forum.my-neoromance.com/index.php?showtopic=755 -- and the dedicated page here -- http://www.rikkaidai.net/otomeeternal/index.html

Since so many promising game translation projects have faded away or died, I think this group would benefit if experienced translators helped them. Feel free to offer them advice or tools.

Default Boys Be Ambitious, and create game fan translations

True Remembrance (a doujin game translated by Insani) has its own thread, but I think it merits a mention here.

Just found another translation-in-the-works: Fortune Arterial. It has a thread on the Animesuki forums here: http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=62287 and a dedicated mini wiki here: http://scratchpad.wikia.com/wiki/For...an_Translation

Yeah, and make it bold, too. Narcissu is, after all =p

EDIT: Oh, and Utawarerumono, of course =p

Is it possible to add "Kuro No Tsuki" (Darkness Of The Moon) to the list?

This is a complete translation of a (as far as I'm aware) commercial BL 18+ multipath visual novel by the company Moon Parrot.

The (only) translator was Bloodtail, Lavender Cross was where the patch was released and hosted until the site disappeared - most of the time the game is referred to as being translated by Lavender Cross because of this. I don't know the precise date of the release of the patch, but the original translation notes that came with the patch were written 2004-07-28.

And as far as the bold letters go, this game should IMO get that as well, it does go beyond the "small VN" text length easily and the production values are very high as well. The official game site has some NSFW screens and probably some additional information that I can't really read.

You can of course decide however you want - including it in the list or not. This is just to bring this translation to your attention as it is for various reasons very often overlooked.

Maybe some more information on it. If it really is a fully translated full-length visual novel, it should go on the list. I'm never going to play it, personally, but it's definitely notable.

The best place is aarinfantasy - though you need to register to view the forums - typing in "kuro no tsuki" will give a lot of threads and I think at one point they also had screenshots of the game, but you can see them on the official website as welll (though with Japanese text, of course).
There is also the game's official site, Moon Parrot. Clicking on the game list, it's the fist game on the left.
This site links to the late Lavender Cross. It also shows some of the other BL game translation projects.
And finally there is an installation guide for the patch here:
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/8...lltutorom5.png
But for the list only the maker, translator and date is needed, the way I'm looking at it. The patch definitely exists and works. The bad thing is the official site is gone, but the patch is being preserved by fans on the usual megaupload-style sites. Hmmm, I don't know what other information to give...

The English patch for Utawarerumono has been released at mirror moon. I'm unsure if this has already been mentioned or not, but seeing as the index was updated and Utawa didn't move, I thought I'd offer the info just in case.
http://mirrormoon.org/projects/utawarerumono

I'm sure this is already known, so ignore me if that's the case.

It was mentioned 5 posts back, but yeah, probably good to mention it again just for the heck of it, since True Remembrance was recently added so it's plain Shii hasn't forgotten about the page.

If this patch is unearthed, could someone upload it to a server where it doesn't get lost again?

One of the fixed non-freehosting locations is here: http://bl.canadia.info/patches/ - the date of the patch is December 2004. It's actually the first fully translated VN ever. :)

Thanks for the link. We're still working on a downloads system for novelnews, and we'll put it up once it's working...

EDIT: We've mirrored the Kuro no Tsuki patch on our downloads server and also provided a link to the Silver Chaos patch. Please let me know if there are any errors on the writeup, as I have not tried out the games and am using information from the translators and official game websites.

Just found this project, courtesy of visual-novels.net: Haruhi Suzumiya PSP game fan translation project: http://babazoz.wordpress.com/2008/01...translation-1/ From what I'm seeing elsewhere on the page, updates have been frequent over the last month or so.

"Back in my day, we were lucky if we had more than one fan translation project per year. You darn kids..."
