The joy~

Quote from cosign Copied straight from Zakarum's comment at omochikaeri.wordpress.com:

Getchu has blocked foreign access, but you cannot blame them… 99% of foreign hits are a total waste of bandwidth, especially hard on an image/video/Flash heavy site such as Getchu. Lately, I’ve seen Getchu has had numerous server issues and slowdowns related to bandwidth overloads. This affects Japanese customers.
In other words, a smart decision from a business/financial, and legal standpoint. Getchu is a SHOP, not an ENCYCLOPEDIA as people have been treating it. Japanese visitors are their customers and therefore top priority. They can’t legally sell internationally so those visitors don’t generate sales… and it’s not their job to generate foreign fandom for eroge companies either.

I, for one, have been treating getchu as an encyclopedia for both anime and eroge. Losing access to the site have crippled my knowledge.

must find another source.

^ No need to worry, my friend. You can still access getchu through the Japan proxy server like this:

lolwut. Pretty sure they can and have been (knowingly or unknowingly) for years. Also, just because it's in their interests doesn't mean we have any reason to support them. That's kind of not the point of the free market.

Agilis is starting up a new site of translation, allowing any visual novel to be translated provided permission is shown that they can translate it. So any and all translators are welcome to join, from what he says.
http://www.neechin.net/article/160/n...onorg-launches

And a new project.
http://www.neechin.net/article/161/p...ranslator-army

NNL's page.

2010.08.08. We apologize once again for the extended delay. We are still in the middle of negotiations.

However, we can tell you these:

- Swells is canceled. We can't reveal what it really was, but it wasn't a minori title.
- All fansubbed work, including ef and Wind -a breath of heart- , has been discontinued.
- The old web site in its no-frills "blog" format will no longer exist.

Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your patience.

^ As a result of NNl's negotiation, Airy Fairy project has been canceled (Swell) though it has been translated completely =.=

I know that it's for the best because they are going to go official but... I still don't like that...

I'm really interested that eden* wasn't mentioned there. The fact that they mentioned "Swells" (which we apparently now know to be http://vndb.org/v2671...?) being canceled but not eden* makes me think that either their current negotiations with minori are about localizing eden*, not ef or any other title. OR maybe they are still trolling by either a) fan-translating eden* even after all this drama, or b) leaving eden* out of their list in order to troll people like me into thinking they are still doing something with it.

Angry

NNL's screwed. In fact, they were translating Mashiro Iro Symphony, not airy[F]airy, because it's based on the same "beloved" Musica engine. Now, however, we won't see anything. "Goodbye to the circus, we hope you've enjoyed the show." I hated NNL in the past, but now I'm just f----n disgusted by GipFace's actions.

Agi, on the other hand, is a bit naive - anybody can fabricate those permission e-mails with a blink of an eye, though I understand Agi's intentions and appreciate what he's trying to put up.

Its nnl nothing stops them from going to hongfire and posting it as a anon or some crap.

And the fact that Airy [F]airy was mentioned pissed me off even more.

I'm pretty sure they'll be focusing on the doujin/freeware side of things. The whole point of the project is to facilitate on-going communication between translators and creators (basically, the same sort of thing insani, Haeleth, and Agilis have done for the past four years but with more of an open community emphasis). Obviously, that form of collaboration can't happen without actual permission, so it's pointless to fabricate an e-mail.

Sure anyone can fabricate them.
But would they really want to go to the trouble for a doujin/freeware game? Maybe, but it's always just a quick check to the creator to see if it was real or not.
