It's as cool statement as "all Japanese language except Kyoto dialect is not 日本語". (゜3゜)

Like in my area, southern MD, you get a lot of the accent flooding over from Virginia and West Virginia, but enough of the redneck accent to counter it. whereas IIRC the more northern maryland will sound a lot more like Pennsylcania and New Jersey. But then everyone works in DC, so the only times you really see any distinct accent is when they don't commute to DC, and they're family isn't from two different accents. A lot of times, you won't notice the accent, as least among the marylanders i know, until an individual is angry. But then when that happens it can be pretty interesting. Nothing quite like seeing two people get into a fight and start using New York Ghetto slang with a Southern Drawl in their voices. And yea, I'll admit, I'm guilty of using ya'll because of MD. |

Keep in mind though, you live in MD so you wouldn't really notice much of an accent where you live. Just like I live in NJ and don't really notice it.

Also, in High School, my English teacher was from New York, and she conciously suppresed her New York accent to no accent on a daily basis, and it never sounded different from the colloquial converstaion (well colloquial for most of us anyways. For a few, colloquial was a bit more on the vulgar or ghetto side of dialect and speech.) .... It made it quite easy to tell when she was about to blow, because you'd start to see her control over accent falter as she got fed up with certain students. (When she finally did snap one day, her accent was so thick, I could barely understand her.) |

Is it true that British get mad when they hear "I just saw her in the hallway"? |

That's a great game for the dating lovers. I have played this too much in the recent years and it is very famous among my friend circle. When I was playing it too much my wife had a gut feeling he’s cheating no proof. But I showed her that I 'm just playing a game, I don't have any extra marital affair.
