Default Haruko of Air changed my future.

In the case I get accepted for JET and get placed in the Kansai area, my placement there will be due to Haruko's influence! I told them at the interview I want to say things like あかんあかん、ほんまにわからへん、せやな, so I prefer to go to the Kansai area!

well if you are going to Japan for JET, don't forgot to make a blog about all the crazy things that happen to you, and record how many times you dogded a kancho

Now that I think about...

A follow up question a lady on the panel asked was "where did you learn these words?" My response was "for some reason, of all the dialects in Japan, Kansai-ben is the most popular dialect in media. I've come across it in video games, anime, and movies."

They must now be thinking "ARGH, an otaku! Forget about him!"

I don't see why they'd be particularly anti-otaku. They're going to want people who have a passion for working in Japan and who are going to make an effort to fit in with Japanese society. They're probably more worried about filtering out people who are only applying because they've heard Japanese schoolgirls are easy than people who are actually showing an interest in Japanese culture beyond Pokémon and DBZ. ;)

Actually, if you want to be in an AIR-like town, AIR's set in an imaginary town in the Kyoto prefecture on the Sea of Japan.

I can't remember the name of the towns they stole their location shots off the top of my head.

Now I just need a Misuzu look-alike who says ガオ and 二ハハ, and a juice vending machine in that area.

You and me both. ∠(•∇•)

I bet if they did they'd have hundreds of creepy AIR fans (your truely inclusive) moving there and scaring the locals.

It's hilarious imagining someone reenact a scene from AIR in one of those towns. Mainly Aozora.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a town in Japan without a juice vending machine. Federal law mandates that no juice machine may be more than 100 meters from another juice machine, even if it means putting one in the middle of an open field.

Heh, Japan is a strange land indeed.

Does anyone happen to know the name of that town? I think I've read it somewhere before, but I've long since forgotten.

... I swear, I realize its a fairly common style of cosplay in japan nowadays.... but I still find it creepy when they put on those full character masks and skin color cloths.
