You know
- the site is in English
- they announced this in the US
- they sure as hell will get more people buying it in english

Wasnt Higurashi already licensed in France? Wouldnt they have gotten EU rights as well? or did they let that slip?
They did licence, however there is no country called EU.

Well, regarding the news, I´m just glad they are getting more quality titles. Though I certainly hope they don´t screw up the translation of it.
About the publishing date, I´m pretty sure it´ll be pushed back with like 6 months at least so wouldn´t be too concerned with that.

EU is a trading block and based on EU laws... you cant restrict imports from 1 country to another. Which is why Nintendo recently got slapped with a large fine by trying to restrict the flow of its goods from 1 EU member country to another.

You may not like to think of EU as being 1 country... sure you dont have a common language or a common defense...but you share 1 weight and measurement system and you share 1 currency... and you all have to follow the laws passed in Brussels :0 its only a matter of time before your countries dissolve into a united European country... the dreams of Hitler and Charlemagne made manifest or the rebirth of the Roman empire :0 not try war and conquest but thru the mighty Euro!

As for the website being in English... a form of Engrish sure.

That's not how you work. They just are cheap
I doubt their translators are actually on staff - it's most likely contract work, much like how they handle editing and testing.

The problem with MangaGamer is that they don't really have anyone who can tell the difference between a good or bad translation. They pay people to do things (probably at very low rates - at the same time, they probably can't tell who is or isn't a qualified translator) and then assume that it'll be properly done. As a result, the poor translation quality from last year seemed to take them by surprise.

You know, it's by no means an EU thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Non-Metric_User.svg

No, there are more than a few EU countries that haven't adopted the Euro.

This isn't true either (though some euro-fanatic politicians are doing their best for this to happen)

I hope they didn't just hire their friends or some internet goon that was looking for a job... but I hear their translation quality has improved immensely, so isn't this a topic of the past?

And something else I've always wanted to get off of my chest... were they trying to look professional by getting that Japanese chick to advertise for them? They should've at least fixed her hair and thrown her into a suit so she didn't look like they grabbed her off of the street...

Let's imagine they somehow get to convert the nscript to the proper engine in the process.
You still need to check the text, then check it on screen, change graphic text, etc.

Man, quit your bitching.

We already know they've already started translating it, and checking the text and everything can be done while the game is being translated.

Lately Mangagamer's translations haven't been that bad (they're actually really decent) so Higurashi won't probably be a problem.

Maybe they will delay the release, like they did with other games.

I'm just happy I will be able to tell people to actually play the game instead of watching the anime.

Sorry for the Thread Necromany, but thought this belonged here:

For any who bought MangaGamer's release of Higurashi, it looks like at least the Onikakushi mini-game was posted online as a Flash Game. Enjoy dodging Rena's punches.

You have to click on her fist when it comes flying towards you to block it (also, don't click too early; wait until it's fairly close before clicking). Don't feel bad if you can't; I can only dodge about 10.

EDIT: what the hell, 'Should have asked for a custom title' =P

Default Thanks

I just got the game and am installing it now. Looking forward to having to not take 3 hours to translate a page. Thank you for all your hard work.
