Default To the frozen north

I'll be off in a few hours to the arctic wilds of the Lake District, to see in the New Year in a region of the country so remote that there aren't even any roads, let alone niceties of modern living like electricity, telephone cables, or internet connections.

So, a pre-emptive message, to be rot13'd on Sunday (like you can't guess what it says...):

Nxrznfuvgr bzrqrgbh tbmnvznfh~!

(And a big middle finger to Richard Branson, who is charging me more for a measly six hour train journey than it would cost to fly to Paris and back.)

Yes, have fun. I recall the lake district as being very pretty. Though the last time I was there, it was a) summer, and b) 15 years ago :)

And here I am back in civilisation. Great fun it was: a six-and-a-half hour train journey (the final half hour by steam), then a two hour walk by torchlight through a snowstorm to reach the lodge, then down the hill to the frozen tarn to hack my way through to drinkable water with an ice axe...

No, I don't know why I do these things either. ^_^

Well, at least you had a lodge to sleep in; you Brits always seem to do things the civilized way :)

That actually sounds like a fun excursion; reminds me of cmaping expeditions my friends and I would go on in high school.

But isn't Richard Branson the guy trying to do the space tourism thing? What's he got to do with this?

He owns the Virgin group of companies, which do a *lot* of things, especially in Europe. They do airlines, music stores, cellphones, and God knows what else. I assume Haeleth needed to take a train run by them.
